Stereo to dual mono

Hello,
this is veeery noobish question:
I have very old stereo amplifier (Wangine WFA 200). It has stereo input and two stereo outputs (for two sets of speakers). What I should do (how should I wire it) to have two MONO signals?

Thanks!

Stereo is two mono signals, so you don't have to do anything at all.

What are the outputs...? TRS... TS... RCA... something else?

If you actually have two STEREO outputs (which is different from having two outputs, one left and pne right), you just need to split the signal from either of the stereo outputs to have one left mono output and one right mono output.

When you say "sets of speakers", you mean one set of left/right and ANOTHER set of left/right...? Four speakers?

A picture of the amp might be helpful...

It seems the OP wants two L+R (summed) signals right?

That's right...

'Merge' your wires.

Left Live__\_____ Speaker
Right Live_/

Left Negative--\____ Speaker
Right Negative /

Do that for both stereo outputs and you should be okay. Just make sure you're not supplying the speaker with double the power you should be heh

Maybe I am misreading this.....

BUT you should NEVER combine speaker level outputs with a jumper or "Y" cable.

Reason? Each speaker level output channel "sees" the other channel as a load impedance. With solid state amps, or decent tube amps, merely "strapping" speaker level outputs essentially means each channel is "seeing" almost a dead short from the other channel.

There are a few exceptions, but rare.

Or....did I miss the question???

Best,

Bri

Yes, but the wiring shown above doesn't jumper together hot signals. As I see it, one hot wire drives each speaker terminal. However it won't work as intended either. heh Assuming the same mono signal feeding both amplifier input channels, the two hot outputs will move together and give zero output, and same for the two cold outputs.

In the first post here the OP said two mono signals. And that's the same as stereo. Then later he said one mono signal summed from separate left and right sources. The best way to do that is with a passive combiner made from two 10K resistors, then Y-split to feed both the left and right inputs. Then connect the two speakers as usual.
