PM1000 question-Brian Roth? Jim Williams? or anyone?

I'm wondering why C1, the input cap on the master busses is only .1uF?

The input strips are .47 uF, which a lot of folks, including myself, have replaced with as high as 3.3 uF for better frequency response.

So I'm wondring if the .1uF input cap in the master busses is worth upgrading? Or will it not make much of a difference?

I'm replacing most of the tants in the board with Wima films so I thought I'd ask.
I don't understand much electrical theory or anything, but it just seems kind of odd that the input cap to the busses would be of such a low capacitence.

Hmmmm..a good question! I had to pull the schemo to look. That certainly seems to be pretty small to me. I'd suggest fitting the largest cap that will physically sit in the space on the circuit board.

Thanks Brian,

I replaced it with a 3.3 uF Wima and compared. I didn't spend too long, but I think I hear a bit more in the low lows. It could just be that I'm expecting the lows to be better so I'm hearing it that way. I'll have to spend some more time with it.
