Modding a DBX 386

So I have a couple of 386s lying around and although they are useable if you disengage the tube drive (they are actually a nice way to go in digitally if you need an extra few channels), they arent really anything I would use for anything important. Does anyone have experience with replacing the tubes or any other mods that would turn these into useful pres? They have to be good for something other than collecting dust.

Thanks in advance, Eric thumbsup
