AKG 452EB. Increased noise when bass-rolloff engaged.

Hi all. I have an AKG 452EB which is within specs when the bass-rolloff switch is not engaged, about 20dB. However, when I engage the 75hz or 150hz rolloff I get an increased noise level of about 8dB, which brings overall inherent sound level to 28dB. A tad high I think.

I opened it up and everything looks perfect, the plastic wrapping is still around the circuit board, so it doesn't appear it has ever been worked on. The CK1 capsule is in good working order.

Anyone have an idea what I should check for in the circuitry? I'm real good with a soldering iron, not so well at determining what could cause the increased noise though.
