neotek headroom/gain staging issues

Recently picked up a Series I Neotek 16x8. I'm going from the unbalanced direct outs on the I/O strips to the balanced inputs of a MOTU HD192. If I'm tracking where the peaks on the converter are around -6db I'm clipping the signal (the indicator goes off on the IO channel and I can hear distortion). I can't imagine the pres have that little headroom, so I assume there's something I'm not getting about the gain staging on the console or maybe it's related to running unbalanced outs to the balanced ins of the HD192. Or both? Any ideas? Solutions?

I've posted to the Neotek list and sent an email to Mike Stoica as well but thought I'd post here as well to cast my net as wide as possible

Thanks!

Dan

Its sounds like you might need to use a hi to low impedance transformer. You can get a cheap one for about 7 bucks. If this works which it did for me go buy 16 high quality tranformers. It will be worth the money to get your signal right.

Good luck
Steve
