Console Mic Preamp Help!

Hello, I need some advice regarding a couple issues I’m having with my console.

Console: Soundcraft Sapphyre 36 LC.

Testing mic preamps issues:
I set first 8 channels to same gain level, about half gain.
Channels 1,3,6,7,8 all have same same gain in terms of sound level.
Channel 2 & 4 has a very low gain sound.
Channel 5 has the same gain level as 1,3,6,7,8 but will
Distort and go in and out in terms of normal and low gain.

Any ideas on what can cause these issues and how I can fix them?

Thanks for any advice offered.

Dirty mic/line switches, insert points, bus assignment switches, and ribbon cable connections are the most likely culprits.
A good cleaning will probably sort it out.

As ripple_fx1 says, insert points are more or less switches also, and a good place to start, as they seem to get dirty and act up first.

Awesome, thanks for the feedback! I will definitely check these connections. Any recommendations for a safe contact cleaner for these insert points? Or should I just use air to clean them for debris?
