Question RE: Adapter for Vintage Neumann Mic

I have an old Neumann M249b. The cable that terminates at the microphone has a threaded mic stand clip that I'm unfamiliar with. Does anyone know what this thread is and if there is an adapter I can buy for it?

Hello!

If that mic is original than that connector is a 7-pin tuchel connector.

these connectors were widespread in the broadcast industry at that time.
also in this special case the cable is also carrying the power for the mic.

the m249b is identical to the m49 and m50 with the only difference being the 7-pin tuchel vs. an 8-pin tuchel connector.

do you have a fitting power supply for the mic - this will not work with normal phantom power!

see here for more information: http://recordinghacks.com/microphones/Neumann/M-249

also here for the technical documents: http://recordinghacks.com/microphones/Neumann/M-49

peace, rez
