arduino Build

Hey y’all

I’m not finding a MIDI controller that interests me and I’ve been flirting with the idea of building an arduino based thingy.

I’m about three days evolved past a wild baboon with no real “soldering” skills... So, the idea of stuffing components into a child’s breadboard is interesting to me

Is this a pretty easy DIY project? In other words, could a singer do it?

Well let me see now. You dont have soldering skills? So you will have to learn that.
Do you have Arduino programming skills? If not, you will have to learn that.
Do you have breadboarding skills? Oh, probably have to learn that too.
Are you knowledgeable about the MIDI implementation? Oops, have to learn that too!
The list is getting pretty long, what is it about other MIDI controllers that you dont like? Maybe you should research them too!

That’s so helpful! Thank you so much for your contribution.

Yes! YOUR list is getting pretty long!

Aside from Soldering, I’m good with everything else...

Sounds interesting.

You can probably just breadboard it up first, so no soldering required. Once the prototype is working then you could transfer it to vero board then solder.

Probably the hard part is going to be the implementation of midi and programming in the Arduino IDE. It's uses C++ syntax from memory - very pernickety. I've done a couple of Arduino projects (non-music related). It's great fun, but not that simple.

This should help:

You could also look at Sparkfun as well: https://www.sparkfun.com/

Cheers.

You know about http://midibox.org/forums/ right?

Buy some boards and learn to solder, its a good community.

Ha! You’ve clearly seen through my workflow... I planned on building a proof of concept with the breadboard and then maybe transferring all of that to a proper build!

The c++ is easy peasy here...

Thanks for the links y’all
