GroupDIY registration?

Says it's disabled... anybody know how can I register? I wanted to ask some questions about Hairball's preamp kits over there and I see that is where he parks his discussions for his products.

Thanks!

The spammers were out of control so Ethan temporarily shut down new registrations.

I suspect he was talking about Hairball....

Please be patient, we are working on a long term security solution.

Thanks man. I was after some general user-experience questions though... you know, help me with some pre-purchase choices. Things like Lola vs Gold... direct Neve clones vs Copper... which one NOT to buy because I already have a Peavey VMP-2 because it would be too redundant, you know things like that... but your input on that is certainly welcome too!

I have seen that your support-level is pretty high in case I need it though, so that's cool. I am a pretty advanced builder so I don't mind getting my hands dirty and my nose full of fumes

thestudio has posted some 300+ times since 2004 (mostly in the free black market, selling random stuff).

that answers half of my question (two times), but not what name you used to register with?

You could say that... maybe a little more than just a member.

FYI.... I tried with two Yahoo-provided email accounts (sbdglobal.net and att.net) and heard NOTHING back from groupdiy.

I then tried with a gmail account and immediately got accepted...

worth a shot.

Me too. Sent a few emails to admin and the email address the donation notification was sent to - no response for over a month. Registered beginning of July.

I may be repeating myself but you need to go to GroupDIY forum donate button and donate $1... This will demonstrate that you are not a spammer.

..and yes, admittedly 1$ is a heavy price to pay for verification - but you'd be surprised how few bots have that sort of money to spend.

That aside, we were seeing some 100-150 daily sign-ups when we closed the unsupervised registration process - very close to none of these were actual persons or even similar. It became heavy guesswork to clean up

..and the money you and/or your bot spends on registration goes directly to our admin Ethan - to help keep server afloat..

Your $5 donation may not have been recognized as registration related as members routinely make modest donations.

Your name have been forwarded to Ethan so please be patient a little longer.

No worries, thanks JR. I figured I'd lurked for years so owed a little more. I just want to be sure I get on the list as well as share my experience to hopefully help improve the process. I'm not in a big rush.

Hi.
This seems to be the thread where it's possible to get some help about the registration.

I registered a while ago, but my approval status has been pending for ages. I did a £5 (or $) donation, but still nothing. Is there any contact (email, telephone) in order to get in touch with admin staff there?

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

What user name did you request? Any message or sender attached to donation? Approximately when?

Could be that the 5$ in stead of 1 that has the system confused, we've seen that before.

Not that donations isn't welcome :-) it all goes towards our admin Ethan for improving server and bandwidth, but when it's double-tasked at sorting out poor bots at 1$ it might be messy to ..

Also be sure to monitor your paypal email account used to make the $1 donation. If Ethan can't recognize your application he may email your paypal email address for more information.
