Palmer PDI 03 hissing noise

My beloved Palmer PDI 03 started producing a thin sound recently when connected.
It seems like something into the chassis is reproducing the sound of the input, but I can't figure how is it possible as I'm an electronic noob.
Also today I grabbed it up while plugged and it started hissing, so I immediately turn the amp off and unplugged everything.

Again, I don't understand much of electronics, just the basics, and I don't understand why it started acting this way and what could be the issue here. It changed all of the sudden, and obviously warranty expired a while ago...

Any help to save my baby?

(sorry for my poor English)
