NAB to CCIR conversion for Revox PR99

I've seen some folk talking about simply ALIGNING for one standard or the other but it's my understanding that one cannot simply do that without the electronics (?) - the PR99 for example has either NAB or CCIR cards for it's record amp, playback amp and eq boards ... I am not sure how one would simply 'bypass' having to change out the electronics? Or is it that you can achieve CCIR EQ at the far end of the NAB adjustment range??

thanks in advance for any clarification on this - i'm asking now because I was about to buy some CCIR cards for my decks

Revox PR99

manuals are available for download at
ftp://ftp.studer.ch/Public/Products/Revox/Revox_PR99/

circuitry is explained including theory of operation.

there are significant component changes between the various models,
speed pairs, and eq (CCIR/NAB).

unlike later solid state Ampex machines, PR99 reproduce electronics cannot accommodate either curve simply by re-adjustment.

yes thanks - i was wondering maybe if it wouldn't be best to just try to get hold of some CCIR cards and swap them for my NAB ones... but nice to have the manual!! I have other miscellaneous repairs to do too anyhow!

Hi
I gave away my PR99 but I think the cards involved will be the same or similar in terms of circuity but different values so not a simple 'tweak the pots' exercise. If you are going NAB you could fit the correct new values.

actually I'm 'going IEC/CCIR' ... can you tell me ... i'm wondering ... it seems like some europeans are preferring NAB decks for the 'grass is always greener' effect - is this true? i was just basing it on hearsay -maybe i can find someone to trade cards with ...
