So I accidentally put 20V DC over my Laptop audio input...

I've got a macbook from 3 years ago. And now, the optical out is enabled...
Can't play any sounds whatsoever.

Now the weird thing.

I've also got windows installed for some gaming, and the speakers do work on windows.. Output seems to be totally ****ed though.

I was wondering if anyone knew any ways to disable my optical output on MAC..
I've tried the toothpick stuff, but i think its not possible to fix this physically, since it was induced by electricity...

try going to audio midi setup in the utilities folder in the applications folder and select the output in the audio page, and change it from optical.

You could try installing a 3rd party App like "Soundflower" & manually switch the output to it in system preferences.
I have found on my MBP simply plugging in some earbuds [3:5mm] jack after a SMC & NVRAM reset does the trick.
I'm on Mavericks OS X 10.9.5

aw man, I forgot all about this issue with the optical out...happened on my mbp.
I don't have th mbp anymore and I don't remember if there was a fix or even a known cause, but I do remember it was annoying.
Sorry I'm of no help, but I just wanted to say "I feel for you..."
