One channel is almost done, the rails are done, and running.
Pretty much going to fill up the 1u rack with two channels and eq.
All ba cards plug in like api op amps.
This build the instrument does not have its own transformer like the ez1073 does, out of room....

Yep David O’Neals work, this is about as trick a 1073 clone I have ever seen.
Moving on, after much though and testing using up my best bc184c, except the first transistors in the gain stages, went with mpsa18, the gain and noise on them are outstanding. Check out the data sheet on that one! Just flop it around 180*. Pin out is different.
Still have not decided on the 2n3055, vintage Motorola or new type??? Newer ones sure have more gain...
Have changed the bom a bit, the ba184 cap 47p reduced to 15pf, rather than just removed, all the pots changed to solid shaft, A few other small things, this I would say is an advanced build, just a lot of stuff going on, in a small space.
But very well thought out, and should serve well to test transformers, and gain cards down the line against real 1073s.

Here for the gear
Hello, yes it's 2019 and I'm looking to replace the audiofire's12 psu. Since it is almost impossible to find an exact replacement, I am glad I stumbled upon this thread (shame all the relevant photos are gone).

Would really want to find out how to hook Mean Well PD-2515 as it has a slightly different pin-out and voltage compared to original Umex UP0303S-0551 psu.

Any advice or photos are greatly appreciated, thank you!

Are you sure it's glued and not soldered? I could imagine the designer needing an inductor in that circuit and deciding the pile of heads they already stock are just right. Probably a waster of money but no more so than giving away free replacement heads and not telling anybody.

Those look similar, but a different color from some low-pass filter modules I pulled out of a vintage Lexicon reverb unit a while back. I don't remember if it was a 200 or a 224, because I was repairing a 4-foot pile of various Lexicon gear all at once (this was the only unit whose fault was something other than PRAM battery or PSU capacitors). The LPF modules in that unit were black but otherwise looked identical to yours. But they were made by Murata, who told me I'd have to contact Lexicon because they were proprietary, and Lexicon wouldn't admit to having sold these units aside from advertising the impressive legacy their name carries. I replaced them with simple RC filters which worked fine and sounded better than original. A little aliasing never hurt anybody.

Echoplex

Ep-3. Extra delighted to find how clean it was inside, and how few electro's it had. Just 4x 500uf @ 50v!

EDIT: those white caps in there are actually electrolytic, and were bad! There's several more caps then the 4 listed.

Delta lab effectron jr.

Man, if there ever was a clear argument to recase a bit of kit, this is one of them. The case is pretty much bent around the pcb, with the 120v leads acting as a short leash. Do yourself a favor and notch the part that connects to the faceplate a hair so you can at least slide the pcb enough to get at all the bitz.

Pacific MIcrosonics Model Two

Image is M1

The rest are of the last M2 ever made, the best one, the one kept by Keith Johnson the founder.

Was $24,000 in 2002, 2 CH AD/DA

Today a new unit would be $70,000 if they could find these parts, which are all discontinued.

The AOS Studio 30(midwoofer-tweeter-midwoofer loudspeaker configuration) is best to use. Amazing!

First time posting a picture on GS so hope it turns out ok.

Recently acquired BBE 422a needed a bit of a clean so popped it open to have a butchers at the inside. Pretty decent build quality overall and the manual includes calibration procedure and complete circuit diagram which is nice. As i'd done this I thought i'd share a pic.

* edit - mods I included a link as the picture thing didn't work for me but cannot see the picture. What have I done wrong?

*2nd edit - link added as cannot seem to upload pictures

Neve 1073+. Same version as Chips above, but I went with all vintage mustards. Went with BC550 and BC547 (tested for high hfe, ~700). Doing another with 1813s and some BC184C I came by and we'll see how different it gets. IMO this is probably the best 1073 on the market today, if built without compromise. The metalwork and boards are done with amazing precision, and there's really not a wasted square centimeter here. It looks fantastic, but it's a toad compared to the sound. Not cheap, but probably better than anything else you can buy.
