Audient ASP008 adat-card failure?

cheers guys,

I have an AUDIENT ASP008 with adat expansion connected to my ADAT in of the mulitface. I use both, WC and ADAT to sync.

2 days ago, the audient started buzzing like a CD that is scrachted. I had a look at the multiface's softwarecontroller (RME mix-window) and saw all the 8 ADAT channels going on MAX volume (buzzing). I changed samplingrate, disconnected ADAT-cable, disconnected WC cable, removed power, replug everything, tried to just clock from ADAT OR WC... didnt work.

it started immediatly without any software/hardware/location changes.

the problem is now:
Is it my multiface (adat In) or the ADAT-card from the Audient...

cheers

I got almost the same setup as you (fireface instead of multiface) but have never had the same problem.

Both companies provide realy good customer support though so i suggest you'd get some info there

Hello George,
got exactly the same problem with my ASP008.
Full buzz on all channels if clocked internally, not locking if clocked externally.
I clock via ADAT from a 002.
My unit is brand new out of the box!!!!!!!

How did you solve the problem?
Have to do a recording in 2 days and would need the unit.

Thanks

1. try to use a diffrent power-channel. I had an issue where my valve-driven monitors (CRT) where pissing electromagnetic **** into the audient. I had to plug it on a another powercurcuit line and the problem was gone.

2. second-time I had a failure, the adatcard went out of function

3. there is the possibility that you have a short between the housing and the curcuitboard. check that.

hope that helps.

Thanks George, seems that the ADAT board goes tilt from time to time.
Sometimes it works and when you touch, not smash the unit,, it goes tilt again. Tested different locations, different 002s.
Had contact with audient (very good customer support!!!!!!!), they also came to the conclusion to send it in to change the ADAT board.
As nobody will handle the unit during the christmas holidays I will do that begining next year.

cheers
