C800 G tube replacement

Hi,

can anyone provide me with instructions on replacing a C800g tube? is it possible for a somewhat technically savy engineer to do this correctly? this tube goes out twice a year and everytime i send it out it takes atleast a month to get back, i cant afford the down time this time around.

thnx

Hey Mike
Go yourself a favor and send it back to sony, theres a foil around the tube thats a monster to take out, be very careful if you do.

Just order a few tape shields(2-543-022-01), Tube(6AU6A/EF94), and Silicon compound from Sony. This is all you need and there is nothing special about the tube.

I second that.
I've changed the tubes out in my C-800G/ACMC800G several times.
You do need to pull the tape shield off and replace it.
It's about a 1 hour job.

I

PS The tubes in the Power Supply should be changed at the same time.
PPS I have 2 sets of tubes with the tape shields for sale if interested.
