Yamaha 01V96 digital mixer - LCD replacement

I have a Yamaha 01V96 digital mixer and suddenly half of the LCD display is fuzzy, darker, very hard to read. I have to adjust the contrast but doing so I see nothing on the other half of the LCD. I guess I need a replacement part but a technician told me Yamaha don't have it anymore. The 01V96i (with small "i") that is now selling in local music store (01V96 (V2) is discontinued) is visually an exact copy with the same controls at the same place etc. with the LCD display the same dimensions. I tought the job was easy, just fit the 01V96i display in my mixer but the technician (he is Yamaha "approved" to buy Yamaha parts) told me the part number is not the same so he won't install it.

Can someone help me, is the 01V96i display electrically the same as my mixer ? If not the same part could be found at some specialist parts outlets or wholesalers. I would think these LCD are more or less standard so we don't need Yamaha-specific parts.

Repair and service is not a frequent topic in these forums, however electronic gear do fails some day. And sending equipment to junk is not the answer.

Thanks for the help, it is greatly appreciated.

>>>>>> Edit >>>>>> Update <<<<<<<<< 2015 September 30 <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

There has been some confusion as I got false information. That LCD display part is still available from Yamaha and professional electronics parts outlets.
So that thread / item / question is closed for good.

Check the LCD in your mixer for part numbers. I have an 02R. It has a Samsung screen. It had the Samsung part number printed on it. I found a new one from a dealer in China on ebay.

I opened mine up and found the manufacturer part number on the back of the screen.
Then did a web search for that part. Mine was a Sharp LM-320191.
But I don't think it would be the same as your model. Again, mine was an original 02R.
