Yes if accurate it's quite nice, the best for a self contained converter.
And you get, 8 CH for the price of 2 CH.. And as a byproduct you get a very nice effect processor.
I have invited owners of the H9000 to do the same test, hope someone will claim in. Lets see.

Do you mean that the file DirectOut Technologies to H9000.wav is the loopback recorded with H9000 as DA converter and ANDIAMO as AD converter and the converse for H9000 to DirectOut Technologies.wav ?
If yes and if you agree, I will rename these files respectively H9000 to ANDIAMO.wav and ANDIAMO to H9000.wav, upload them on mediafire and provide the download links in the next issue of the list of the results.

The result from each test consists in four figures. Both first figures are the gains to be applied to the left and right channels of the loopback copy (download links available for a large part of the tests) for listening in comparison with the original. Both last figures are the RMS level values of the left (L) and right (R) channels of the difference between the original and the time and level aligned copy generated in Matlab by applying to the lopback copy a time delay, the same for both channels, and the L and R gains, the values of which given here are rounded to the nearest 0.1 dB. Precise values of these three parameters, determined to get the lowest maximum of L and R difference levels, were provided for each test before it was inserted in this list, except for the old ones that were initially measured by means of Audio DiffMaker and the result values of which have been meanwhile replaced without notification in this thread.

See at the end of this post how to contribute to the test.

A little late to the party, but what do these test results mean? Do the ones that measure closer to the source track mean they are more accurate converters?

Does anybody have any kind of conclusion about these tests?

Hi Didier. A couple of questions....

Have you processed results for a single channel? Presumably - and you may already have a better way - this could be done in your current workflow and for all existing tests by simply duplicating the left or right channel to create a dual mono input.

The reason for asking is I'd be interested to see how skewed the results are by small differences between the two channels of the current tests that may not matter that much in real life but will massively throw off the null optimisation you're doing by using both channels and a single delay offset. If nothing else it would be nice to see these alongside the existing l/r results or just see some data on a few select cases on some of the poor but popular interfaces (babyface, id14 come to mind) to prove this assertion wrong.

Have you shared/are you willing to share the MATLAB code for this?

Apologies if this is discussed elsewhere.

I agree that your question is legitimate. It would have been better to have two different delay offsets for L and R channels like there are two different gain offsets. But a single delay offset and two gain offsets is used in stereo by Audio DiffMaker, the tool that I have been using for a long time from the beginning of this thread. I kept this choice for sake of continuity. However I have checked that the result sensitivity to two delay offsets instead of one is minimal.

The difference between both time offsets equals 110 ns for the babyface and 13 ns for the iD14, which is much too small to change sensitively the results.

The strongest impact of separate time offset is met when L and R difference levels with a common time offset are equal (sign that the common time offset is a compromise for minimizing L and R differences) and low (the lower the difference, the more sensitive it is to time offset accuracy), which is the case with the recent test of the Eventide H9000R:

Ok, so I finally had the time to try to do a loopback test on the converter everyone has been waiting for. The ORION32 gen3!

I'm not sure if I got everything right.

-The uploaded recorded file is a little bit longer than the original. Can you fix that?
-The loopback was done through my tt patchbay which goes to a EDAC. batchbay. Maybe later on I can find the time to do a shorter connections directly from the d-sub to s-sub.
- I didn't try the monitor out. This is done through channel 31-32 line out to line in.
- In logic, when bouncing, I chose split and not interleaved, correct?

I have a feeling that it's not gonna be any good results but I must say that the converters so far has been sounding really good.

I just saw that there was a test with the HD version as well. Must have been done quite recently. I'm gonna try and do another loopbacktest later on again with a shorter straight connection. I don't know if it matters but worth trying.

Yes. Both should be OK. Your file seems to be interleaved. Split wav stereo is composed of two files: one for the left channel and one for the right channel.
