Reverb VST Blind Shootout for Vox.

Hi,

I have put together a rough blind test of three vst Reverb plugins and am interested to hear your thoughts on these. The reverbs being used are PSP 2445, LiquidSonics Illusion and Liquidsonics Lustrious Plates. The recording is from a live gig so performance is not perfect. Also, there is some subtle processing from PSP's E27 EQ and NI VC-2A compressor.
I have included clips of the solo vocal and the vocal in a mix. Please post your thoughts and pm me for the results.

I liked reverb C on this. There is a "connectedness" I always look for determining the quality of a reverb. If the dry signal becomes disconnected from its dynamics and sounds like a glass pane was plopped over it, I'm out. C has the dynamics intact and sounding very natural.

Over 120 listens. Anyone else like to post their thoughts on these reverbs?

Which did you like the most?

I would pick 2 as my favorite for this particular mix, 3 as second and 1 last.
But to be honnest, all 3 are good and i think i could manage to have the same kind of result with all 3 with a little bit of tweaking/EQ/High pass/low pass.
I chose 2 as my favorite because i liked the tail of the reverb better, i thought it blends well but 3 is very close and i think i could have almost the same result with 1 with maybe just a low pass…

Thanks for doing the comparison! I'm listening on laptop speakers.

I think B sat in the mix best - keeping presence without being too obvious. Nice air. If it was a stripped back mix I would prefer A. C is perhaps better on guitar or for invisible, warm 'verb; maybe would suit another vocalist or song.

They all sound great. Nice recording and mix. Sounds real.

Thanks Arthur. The recording was from a live gig and is completely unedited.

Here for the gear

Hi thanks for this shootout!
i like rev A more even if the vocal is wetter than the other verb it's space is nice! The other two are blurry for me, i prefere the rev C over the B though; the vocal in C is intimate cause the verb is backward and this is also pleasant. The rev B is simply blurry for me. The music and singer are very good

Thanks for posting your thoughts I had the dry/wet settings on all of these reverbs on identical settings but I agree A and B sound wetter.
