Mic cable comparison

Hi all,

Always wondered if cables make some real difference in sound, so i tested 4 of them: Mogami Gold, Silver, Whirlwind and Proel Die Hard.

Gear used:
Lynx Aurora n with onboard preamps (very transparent).
4 Line Audio CM3 mics.

No audio processing applied at all.

Which one do you think sounds the best in this blind test?

Daniel.

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for this excercise.

For me the differences are not that big, but 4 sounded a bit more full and open than the rest.

Best wishes,

Lucas

Your welcome Lucas,

I think very similar, there is no night and day difference in sound, but the money is.

I'll PM the results

Daniel.

Here for the gear
Assuming the mic’s pick-up patterns weren’t affected by them being rubber-banded together like that, and all cable lengths being identical, I only heard slight differences and would give sample 2 the nod as my favorite.

The mics were handled by hand, tried to not move them while singing.

Best,
Daniel.
