Try it at 438.000khz

I have a Casio high-speed slow mo camera and it took a really long time for it to get old -- but when it does you are like, "why do I have 30 hours of me slapping people in the face so their cheeks jiggle back and forth," and, "whoa, check out that sprinkler."

MSL sorry to say this not quite how it seems. You will not get this effect with the naked eye.. all that stationary droplets shenanigans is just a trick of the cameras recording frequency. Like a shutter if you will.

If you wanted to do it so it works for the naked eye you'd have to look through a High speed shutter...eg The blades on a fan might do the trick if you got the right frequency.

An experiment one can do without a camera is to play a bass note (on a bass guitar or double bass) in a room with a fluorescent lamp. Playing a low G and notes around the G will coincide with the flickering frequency of the lamp, thus giving your eyes a great illusion of an almost fluid string; one can see the string as a sine wave.

yes, because nobody makes an oscillator you can tune to 30 FPS... er, Hz...
clearly that comment was written by a video nerd and not an audio nerd.

Find out what speed your camera shoots and set your oscillator to that frequency plus or minus how fast you want the apparent-motion of the standing wave to be...

But what I want to know is... the speed that the eyes see at so the effect can be seen with the naked eye. I suspect it varies though, or isn't that simple.

Just in case people watching this think that the frequency is actually affecting the water, it isn't. The hose is attached to the speaker and the hose is moving causing the tragectory of the water to move back and forth, or oscillate.

The rest is just a cool sync trick of frequency and framerate.

To see the effect of sound on water, I'll think I'd watch Jurassic Park, when the T-Racks come and there is a cup of water and a speaker under the table does the trick hahaha
