Are there any electronic girls?

This looks to be a smelly man cave of a forum as does certainly a large division of the estate of thre gearslutz.

Where are the women/girls in this place.
Phoography another forum I participation on has a man-cave odour but there are appearing to be a lot more of the womens than on here.
Why? is this a sexist forums and the women's are scared, or is it just the toys that the machismo men like?

Curious thread title - and some interesting responses thus far.

Just wanted to be counted; if only as an exception to the rule.

Anyhow, carry on

A popular mainstream promoted guy on YouTube actually had a vlog comment about the idea which he elaborated upon within the context of synthetic prostitutes. It was pretty lowbrow. But the type of speculation is real enough.

People have been trying to out-human the human for a long time and it usually ends up with lots of taboo, shame, relentless competitiveness, oppression, cruelty, and loss of integrity along the way. But hollywood makes the idea too pretty when not making it absolutely a spectacle of terror.

Be careful what you wish for. It's all fun and games until somebody loses a brain. Sci-fi doesn't lie; it just keeps telling us the same set of stories over and over again in different forms because they never stopped being relevant. Sci-fi just repackages what had already been known about our origins and potential futures but is too taboo to say directly because of what we've already become much to our own repressed dismay.

Meanwhile, some folks are trying to build a super brain. But for what purpose? To enslave it, or for it to enslave us? We are just now starting to finally truly abolish some types of slavery and meanwhile people are dabbling in building super brains. This implies the building of super bodies, and such implies the building of super servants (slaves). When people don't want slaves for work, they want them for romance/sex. But it's still slavery in pretty wrapping.

But trying to straddle super brains, the yoke would be on us, people. Every major technological development has had an ominous destructive side.

Didn't these people trying to create the brains watch Bladerunner or read Isaac Asimov or study any of the epic legacies of cultural warnings?

Adult F(r)iend Finder meets Gear Acquisition Syndrome (G.A.S.)
NOT SAFE FOR KIDS meets SYSTEM NORMAL ALL F**KED UP.

People being stalked by their ex could be pretty messed up if their ex was an actual robot with an attitude problem or rootkit in their cerebellum!

With everything we've learned about the nastiness of trying to maintain data integrity of our DAW's and our computer Operating Systems we should be running and screaming in our minds from the insinuated concept of synthetic people or any other avatarish/matrix johnny mnemonic type of futurist idealism.

Our wonderful musical computer systems are delicately instable enough already. Our interpersonal relations are precarious and tricky enough already. We realy don't need the worst of both elements crossbreeding into some kind of nexus of cyberemotional dysfunctional relationsystemship. We got enough to deal with in each separate domain. Facebook and Twitter and spam and porn or cellphone comas and the next creeping insidious thing just over the horizon already have had their way with us.

Sure it's not all bad, but humanity has had enough rapid so-called advances to deserve a techno-evolutionary vacation as preventative healthcare for the planet.

It may seem like this is not the place to comment about such abstract things, but actually, some of us types of folks will confront this junk first because we already have experienced intimate data management for our craft and we already know how the tech producers tend to introduce innovations into mainstream society.

It's only abstract until it hits the goods and service markets of the real world. Somewhere people are engineering this stuff. But again, for what purpose? And every technology ever developed has always ended up being used for things never intended for such.

A lot of us guys and gals are confused enough already by the opposite sex or of gender demographics or whatnot. Heck this is a male-dominated field, we know this already! So why the hell would we want to be worrying about what operating system we are dealing with as well as what type of being we are dating.

Hey pretty lady, are you real? If not, what version number is your firewall and will your head explode if you let me kiss you? Will our children look like iPads, IBM PC's, Debbie Harry, or John Malkovich dodecaguplets? No offense to any of those. It's a serious joke.

What happens when you are in a serious relationship with a synthetic person and somebody or something corrupts their ROM or RAM and you have to reinstall without a product activation code or a fresh boot chip. What if you are in the middle of a session and their brain crashes. How embarrassing. Do you lie to your children and leave out important details about where they came from or where their hidden OFF switch is?

Do you let your synthetic girlfriend overclock herself risking hardware failure or a vehicular accident?

All these jokes incubate serious issues lingering latently beyond us in regular life. But as long as the builders are busy building our future with or without our involvement, we will have to contend with more than jokes and wistful yearnings for simple human pleasures like having a date or a mate or a companion.

Somebody's got to talk about it somehow; and they have been. Are we listening?

Kraftwerk were already robots so we don't have to be. "But we wouldn't be the robots, we'd just use them" you say. But we wouldn't know if we were the robots or they were. And they might not know either. We'd know at first until some clever troublemaker decided to mess with us and mix synthetics with non-GMO's or synthetics or whatnot. Bladerunner again.

A being could live much of a whole lifetime before knowing completely that it was real amongst fakes or fake amongst reals. But in reality, we are what we are, and that's always real on a higher level. Let's hope that mutual respect and peaceful dignified interaction is taken to the higher levels of this type of unprecedented "innovation" complication.

And even if we are kind to ourselves, we don't know that they would be kind to themselves. Or if they were kind to themselves, they might wonder why we are not kind to ourselves.

In building a better human and in possibly succeeding, that might leave us as the vestigial monsters with a genocidal polluting past. We would then have created a dystopia for both them and us instead of a future utopia.

They'd be haunted by our perverseness and we'd be haunted by their lack of perverseness.

A simpler way of putting this...

A lot of wonderful beautiful, smart, funny and educated and pleasant female beings already exist and didn't need to be "invented" beyond sperm and egg union. But being attracted to awesome female charisma doesn't translate into us having anything to offer in return. You could build the perfect electronic woman, but why should she love you?

OK, that's enough philosphy for now. VST's are just sound effect modules and not yet character building blocks. But I've already seen people on a similar music and audio website talking about wanting to have music beamed directly in and out of their brains via computers.

I never thought I would witness this from any group of people I had anything in common with, but low and behold, it came directly from audiophiles and DAW techies. And meanwhile people on another thread on this site are discussing recreational drug use as if it's A-OK and safe as can be--as if nobody's life ever get's trashed from being addicted on a one-way street to a mind-altering activity.

But when people start mixing bodies, brains and programmable logic, it means Sci-Fi warnings are as relevant as ever and every silly joke about dating bender from Futurama are suddenly not so funny.
