It’s very cool.
There’s another one called CenterOne among other things it pushes the center image forwards or backwards in the LCR field.havent tried that yet.
Both have adjustable filtering to leave the low end alone.

Plug ins?
Plug ins!?
We Don’t need no stinkin plug ins.....

Curious whether you rate any channel strip plugs, Rob?

After having been thru a bunch of simulated tape echoes and while battling some issues with my once trusted EP-3, finally got it back up and running and nothing compares and nothing sounds like the real deal.
It is so obviously noticeable, even as slap on the vocal, how it sits in the track and does it’s thing.
I don’t mean it’s noticeable in how you hear it,
just the opposite, how it sinks in and tucks under a vocal adding space blending eloquently.
Everything else sounds two dimensional by comparison.
Anyways, carry on.

That was my conclusion with plugin plates vs real plates, as well.
The real thing just sits in everything so much better.
It becomes a part of the material.
The plugs, while some do sound good, don't sit the same way.
The plugs sort of just sit there; around the material.

I have a fulltone tube not the solid-state.
So apples and oranges.
I have always liked EP-3s better then the EP-1 and EP-2 and hence the fulltone.
The tube units are cool for driving an amp but I like the
Sound of the actual tape Machine from the solid state unit more.
Less mushy murky.
I have one of those new Echofix space echo units on order.
Jonesing for that to come in.
Also was given an old solid state Vox v837 tape delay.
That thing sounds absolutely awful.

The demos of Shanes unit do sound nice. Good guy as well.
Just had my re201 recapped here & added Shanes full service kit w green roller.
Appreciable difference.

A real tape echo would be one of the last things I'd wanna be w/o here as well.

Yeah, my 201 just adds a finish to things that plug ins dont. Even just running vocals through it without much or any effects can help for certain things.

One of my favorite tricks that I can do again now that i gave it a good service is to run in a sound I want to mess up a bit or give a certain texture into the PA in with the repeat rate right down to just get one 'echo' and the intensity up or down depending on how clear you want it to be, and you just get a really quick bounce to tape effect that works wonders. Can't remember the Mode Selector position, but one of the more simple ones works best.
