Thinking 4 stereo pairs for console busses
The videos I've seen sound great - and then there are the mini-modular channel style ones to come also. V cool.

I’d love one of those too.
I need more Pres like a kick in the head but it sure does look to be very useful otherwise.

I want to hear more about the ethernet style connection on the back of the Imperial channel? I assume it contains most or all of the 1/4" connections in parallel to allow one cable connections to some sort of 2-bus master control type of strip which is yet to be released?

How much does the Imperial channel cost?

Edit: I see that it costs $1500.

What about the rack?

You don't need the rack. It can work as a stand alone...

But I might WANT the rack even if I don't need it. And I might NEED it if I were to try to make a little modular console out of these things.....

I called Jeff today.
Yeah the Ethernet will route to other stuff down the line ie routing modules.likely some bussing, faders etc.
What a bad ass Console that’ll make.
I’m gonna get a 4 banger rack.
They’ll eventually be a 2 ch and 10 ch version too.
Good times.

That sounds pretty cool. I would want to wait until the bussing module was released before I pulled the trigger. Either way though, it's a cool concept.

Used the stager SR-1A on a string quartet sounded fantastic.
Tried it closer in front drum kit -Huge sounding.
SR2 sounded great on old brown deluxe and Ampeg Gemini 1.
Wanna try it on a 4x12 but haven’t had the chance yet.
These are great ribbon mics.

Hi Rob, Round Badge, if I could duck in here with a quick question; I'm about to pull the trigger on the Stager SR-1A. Plan was to use it on FO Kick. I built a FOK frame/tent out of PVC pipe and covered it with a moving blanket. Think there would be any problem with air pressure (kick drum plosives) under the "tent" with that mic? The reso-side port hole would be away from the mic. Thanks

not meaning to answer for Roundbadge or anybody but I don't think that the "FOK" mic is necessarily meant to be an isolated kick mic. It's just a good vantage point to get a nice thick picture of the whole kit, including great low end from the kick (and toms) but not only for that....

I imagine the PVC might act as a bit of a filter and sound less natural - but hard to say without knowing more about the dimensions etc..

I built that same pvc contraption some years ago. Haven’t used it in a while.
I’d imagine if it’s not near the hole and a few inches off the head you’ll be good.
Big bottom end.

Yes but there's directly and then there's DIRECTLY. The main thing is the air moving off the head and, in particular, directly from the port. Pull it back a bit and if you're still worried, like Karloff said, use a pop shield for extra protection. I love ribbons in front of the kit. Still my favourite rack-tom sound

question about FET compressors - got any favorites between the CAPI FC526, Pete's Place BAC500, and Hairball's? or are you generally using the rack 1176's? specifically for tracking vocal, guitars and drums. thanks y'all this is the best thread
