hey Rob ,I got one of Ian's stretch modules in here.
what are you using it on?any settings you like,tricks..vox etc.
I was liking the pulse mode blended in on a couple vocals.I could see doing a pair paralleled for stuff.
I've been using the waves Aphex plug in a little on a parallel on vocals but this thing seems more "real", musical to my ears if that makes sense?

Man, it's got way more options then the Dolby stretch that's for sure.
But I usually kinda start from that mode cuz that's what I'm use to and then
See what happens.
Use it on Piano sometimes
Snare sometimes
Backgrounds for that airy 10cc thing.
Acoustics for that sound....
And yeah paralleled.
After that, it's up for grabs.
And I wish I had anther one too for stereo.

Black box hg2.
Pentode and triode tube stages you can drive into each other plus side chain 12ax7 saturation circuit with switchable filters you can run/blend on parallel.
Transformer I/O.
also a subtle "air" lift circuit(10k and up) you can add on a switch.
Dialing various amounts of harmonics, you can thicken,enrich/sparkle-ize/louder-ize
It's different to the culture vulture, overstayer.
Still "learning" it but so far it's very interesting.tracking through synths, drum machines and trying on busses and mixes.
Good for getting a bit of pop,get rms up and tame peaks musically without compression and eq.
When you get it dialed right the result sounds musical with some added depth/life.
I've now seen a couple mastering guys using them.
VK offered it for great demo deal.hard to send back.
I'll make a decision on Monday but I like it.

Now that I've read through it, can I get back the 17 hours of my life?

The 635/635a can be a revelation as well... Room sound, kick, guitar.

Oh wow, I love the EV mics, 635a on rooms for sure. Or crammed up inside the kit to cassette.

I also really like a D112 on the big toms.

Just watched the Warren Huart interview and I was blown away. Need to go back and read more of this thread.

love 635 when close micing an isolated guitar during full band tracking - doesn't sound a "shoved in there" as a 57

A 635a can also be pretty cool crammed up under a hi-hat:

...Let the OHs carry the "sizzle", and just sneak the 635a into the mix for just the right amount of that satisfying "crunchy-chunk" on the foot-drops.

This can also work well under a ride cymbal. (Just the right amount in the mix can make it sound HUGE.)

Pedal steel... also, beat out several LDCs for overdubbing acoustic guitar, chasing the sound of the KM84 we'd used for basics.

635a also makes a sweet kit heart mic over the top edge of the kick and compressed liberally. And a cool as feck, old sounding acoustic mic for bright-ish acoustics.....and and and...

Oh yeah, another time I recorded a band in an empty McMansion out in the boonies. We recorded drums in this crazy tile foyer with a stair case that lead to the 2nd floor. I hung a 635a off a stand wedged in the the stair rail so it looked directly at the drums. Very cool.

For recording drums, I've taken a 635a and pointed it right at the floor, just barely not touching the floor. It sounded pretty cool. I need to do that again actually.
