Chris is the man.
He's done all edges for 5 of my kits.
Better than the Ludwig or Gretsch factory's could ever do.
In fact I had a Gretsch "Rock Anniversay" maple kit that he "corrected" right from the factory.

Sounds like both A or D model 1176's although I do not currently have any to A/B with. Unfortunately, it looks like I may have the only 2 to ever be built unless Dan can convince Serpent to go back into production on them. in a lot of ways, the Rackmount versions are better. Although I love the sound, the one thing I don't like about the 500 units is that there are so many controls - it's pretty "tight" - and the VU's are smaller than the 2RU ones.....

Well it certainly doesn't look like a vintage clone zerox copy that's for sure. But I can pretty much tell you that Mike and Dan went back and forth till they got things as close to an A and a D inside one box as they could. All these different "clones" have their own vibe, so if having an A and D 76 in one box intrigues you, best to give it a whirl yourself. Cheers Rob, bp

Jeff from overstayor dropped off a master and servant saturator type device to try out.
Used it on a vocal track with no character and it worked very nicely.
It can be used tastefully to add tape type gauze and glue or
You can crank it up for distortion.
Went the glue route.
Definitely helped out the track.
We then bounced the mix to a fostex A80 and that sealed the deal.
Sort of a Beck "Alcohol" vibe.
Very useful box nice work jeff.

had been entertaining the idea of selling my markVI mellotron and replacing it with the new memotron.
both for space and technology reasons.
Seems cool to have those classic sounds midi-able. And not to have to store tape racks.
So last nite got to have a shoot out of sorts in the heat of battle while tracking on a new toadies record.
Very interesting.
I wont sell my mellotron.
Still has a certain unquantifiable sound that is lost in the memotron.
The memotron is verry cool though.
You can pitch around with it and has the half speed switch.
I like it way better than the samples.
Yes it is the library sampled but the tactile manipulation and other features( sustain pedal, midi lotsof sounds) is really great.
What would make it even more bad ass is if there was a pitch control and half speed switch for each side.
In any event, i'm not selling the mellotron and i want a memotron.

How do the memotron and the 4000D compare? we have the 4000 over here and are super pleased, but it seems there's always room for more versions!

so close, the oldie is maybe a tad darker..likely from component age?
closer to [original].the compression/vibe/amp is pretty much identical...Infra sounds more like it would've new a bit more "alive" ..and quieter.[not brighter like a purple or more modern etc]
he did a great job on this thing.
kills any and all desire to ever pay "vintage" prices
might keep the mohog cause its cool too but getting another one of these fer sure.
try to get a demo from Warren .

Rob I have coffee beans and a T shirt for you.[I'm in MT wash]

So yeah, 4000D is cool but if you have a real MKVI mellotron and are really into
Its sonic character i dont think its replaced by this.
If you want the library at your finger tips, convenience and space this is
the way to go.

Been using the standard audio stretch.
It is an awesome unit.
Way more flexible than the modded A cards.
Has the bend control.
Several different modes and flavors.
Really cool tool.

Another interested party here.
At that price, I'm personally torn between it and the warm wa76 (have no 76 flavor here). Starting to think this thing may be a better all-rounder though.
Interesting little box.

I have it on piano at the moment.
Blasted thru all the modes and they all seem useful.
In this particular application and for this song/part
Both on blend at 10 o clock.

I want two of these.

also littlepapercones speakers are a cool alternative to the auratones.
these sound like you wish auratones would but dont.
and a really nicely crafted wood enclosure.
nice mid range and fun to listen too.
i dont want this to sound like advertisements because these arent.
just a fan of crafty creative people.
