I own three hitmakers and having chris build me a bunch of cool wooden ones ie solid wood Radio King-ish stuff w/ a modern twist, etc.
his wooden snares are KILLER.I think Charlie Watts grabbed one
he's tweaking a killer old 50's duco finish WFL kit for me this week

I also have a bunch of bitchin african mahogany shells he's gonna eventually make into a kit for me.damn I need more $

just grooving to the Whigs record the other day.love the drum sounds.my wife loves it

4,5 1/2 and 6 1/2

they;'re pretty straight forward drums made w/ off the shell parts[about 140-170 bucks].easy to make your own actually.
the trick is in the Worldmax brass shell which is thinner than your standard classic Ludwig Black Beauty, and the heavier die cast hoops which bring the slightly lighter brass shell into a slightly drier punchier more focused vibe.that combo just works. = great for tracking

so you pretty much have it covered then.
do you have a black beauty as well?
the hitmaker john O had was friggin great.
as are his black beauty's.
i'm a big fan of the ludwig acrolite.
tama bell brass, black beauty and a dunnett can get you pretty far down the road.

yeah i have at least one of every one you mentioned.
I love the Craviottos also.got three of them.
funny how the new trend of hippie rockers coming through the studio love all the old funky rickety old stuff, pawn shop, whatever.
I'll lay out the standard stuff that i consider the staples and they don't even touch it.if it looks old it must sound cool.lol
whatever floats yer boat.
just got another dunnett ..the one made of pipe steel and you can't buy it in stores.louder than the bell brass.and at least as heavy.i think John has one
gonna pick up another Gretsch kit .. 3 hr drive.

Think I have 16 something snares. Problem with snares (and drums), you can't just have 1 of every type (brass, copper, bronze, stave, ply, etc. etc. etc.), you also gotta have them in different sizes

My drum collection is directly related to how large a place I live in. I'm at max now, but as soon as I get a bigger flat hehtutt

thanks.yeah.22 x 16
I already have an older late 70's/early 80's Walnut kit w/ a standard 22 x 14.
also the factory has a 24 x 16 in either color waiting for me to decide, made with the older NOS Jasper shells.love that size for certain things
the maples are stunning in person.gonna switch the black dot heads out to regular ambassadors etc tomorrow and have a wack, but so far they sound really good.
I got the rundown that Gretsch asked C Watts to do a signature kit and he was kinda nervous about having his name on a new product but they went ahead and made a kit in honor of the guy anyways a. labelled it the "Rock Legend"..plus the extra floor tom.

running the ATR/111 cards on some stuff tomorrow night/stay tuned

My latest (ok, was over a year ago).

Gold sparkle (pyralin) 1928 Leedy 14x26 with Leedy calf heads (beautiful hand painted, signed, front from Leedy)...both calf heads still in great condition! I'm way to scared to hit them with any force (tapping sounds amazing! They are not brittle at all!). Got some Remo's to try out heh

It's just in really nice condition, inside out. The hoops are mahogany, there are 3 heaters inside---basically 3 bulbs, red, green and blue, all wired up old school (cloth covered wiring). Inside is painted white (original). Looks all new in there! Bearing edges excellent....very round of course, no modern sharp edge.

It's not perfect brand new condition, but seems drum museum quality to me thumbsup

Nice! What size is that floor tom? Got a late '50's red sparkle WFL 22x12 and 12x9 (I think, can't remember exactly). As you know, back then they sold the 'set' as a bass + small tom. Floor tom was an optional add on. Further back (like my Leedy), they didn't really sell 'sets'.

So, Chris Heuer does good vintage bearing edges? Got a blue sparkle 1969 Ludwig that I need the get the edges done (one of these days), to original round-like specs (but I'm sure way more accurate than Ludwig did in the day, which was mostly crap). Previous owner planted a zillion stick strikes on just about every mm of bearing edge.

Started snapping up good condition, unmodified vintage sets some years ago, when it seemed prices were way too low. Looks like I could quadruple my $$ on most of the sets. Wish I didn't run out of room

dude trust me, take em to Chris.
I've re-edged a lot of old drums myself but he's a freak for doing it right.
69's i believe were clear interiors? but he'll match the resocote paint like the originals if they're painted..he did that on my '66 clubdate kit and it looks like new lud factory.

Yeah, had edges done at Pro drum (not so good---think he was drunk), drum doctors (better), Pork pie in the Valley (only had snares done, but good job for that stuff, and surprisingly cheap!).

Getting outta hollywood? Don't blame ya. If you get really lucky, try around hyperion/griffith park intersections. That's where I'm at and you can walk to everything! Great food, wine, beer, drinks, Gelsons/trader J's, video rentals, etc. Lots to choose from all within a block or 2...it's snappy! Rob is walking distance too. Maybe one day all 3 of us can take back the Mad Hatter from the scientologists.

So he was the guy at Drum Paradise, right? I've had them in my rolodex, was recommended for my vintage drum stuff, but he's independent now? And I should go straight to him Home Page, not Drum paradise?
