havent gotten way into the BAC yet.
but i have to say i expect good things from it based on its performance so far.
it feels really good and solid.
it sounded great on the mono perspective drum mic.
nice character to it.
a good squish but i havent tried it on anything else yet.

gonna break into the edyne today and we'll see how it compares side by side with the
console.

let me know what you think of it.
have you tried the little devil eq?
got the old big meter 525's back in action.
cant find schematics for these things anywhere.
they needed love and wren at sound factory had to get forensic on them.
definitely dont match the 525C schematics.
this stuff is always interesting(sort of) how the circuits evolve and
everything is a little different.
all i know is for whatever reason the circuits changed
i like the sound of the big meter(older) 525's better.
i wonder if the preset attack times changed(faster) as the circuit evolved
making the 525C's grabbier.
beats me
if you know of anybody that has a line on a schematic for these hit me up.
blah blah blah

Cool.I ask around.I yeah I have 2 big meter 525's here.I think one needs recapping.the other older one has been gone through and the action/ballistics seem fine.the other one is very different.
really hard to get them to match based on what the meters/knobs are doing.. its all earball.
as far as the vs. the c version,i'm feeling its the older melville opamps combined w/ slighter mellower curves..maybe
but they do play nicer than the new ones

the little devil eq looks interesting.gotta get one in here this week too.
supposedly in the ballpark of a 1081 and the little class a/b broadcast modules from the Neve 5315.i use those on jimmy's little console and they're cool.
they're supposedly in the Neve weight class yet more headroom[higher voltage, transfo i/o,class A,blah, etc]
we'll see

there is a very definite alignment procedure.
sounds like its time for yours get dialed in.
the procedure dials in the metering as well.
while they never totally match one another they definitely
get into the same ballpark.

anyways let me know what you think of those little devils.
i am off to woodstock for the month.
gonna do some recording at dreamland.
havent been there in about 15 yrs.
should be fun.

hi warren

so i really like the BAC500.
it seems hi fi yet colorful.
i like that it isnt transparent
yet has the ability to maintain fidelity.
and it can also be heavy handed in a
musical way.
its defintely something i will/do use regularly.
a very nice addition to the rack.
