And they wonder why I drink....?

Hey Guys;
Here's a quick shot I took earlier today of Rob Caggiano from Scrap 60 productions along with Dani Filth singer of Cradle of Filth.
We've been working, actually mixing their new single for the last 5 days.
Still not done.....tomorrow's yet another day.

But now...
I really need a beer!
or two........
Cheers

Still mixing, same damn song.

"I'll drink one for you. Two maybe."
David

Thanks buddy...
But I'm still at it, yes two days later.
But I think I'm in the final stages of actually putting this song to bed.

Maybe by some reasonable time this evening I can finally say it's done.

But that's what I thought five days ago....

Now where's that beer?

I think we're done!

With any luck, I'm done with this damn mix...

What's it nine days now?

Could be the most "anal" session I've ever done, but that's another story...

Time for a beer. and I think I deserve something special, so I went into my storage room and found a few of these....
8 years old, these are gonna hit the spot.

I think I'm gonna drink dinner tongiht!
Cheers

How do you like that console Paul?

Here's the short version.

Hey Brian;
I used to have a Neotek Series III-C in this place.
I had it custom built for me in 1985, loved that console, but after a while everything in the console started to fail...Switches, pots, things were intermittant...
Everyday something else would fail.
Couldn't take it anymore, so I had to make a change.

I was interested at the time in buying a used Neve, but I really didn't want the headache of having to re cap, and or replace parts...especially after being through that with the Neotek.

During that time, there were only two things that interested me, one was this console I heard that was being developed in the UK, by Tony Larking Audio...
A small 8 buss set up with tube in some of the critcal gain stages...I loved the idea.

Also during that time I already owned about 10 of Geoff Dakings original 52270 mic pres, and I loved them, so I talked to Geoff about building me a one off custom console.
(Yeah I'm the guy that started him in the console business.)

So I opted for the Daking Custom console, and contracted Geoff to build me a desk.
Well Geoff and I worked on this thing for quite a while...
Anyhow, after a few prototypes, two AES conventions, and 3 years of waiting,
I asked Geoff how much longer it was gonna be before I had a working console.
He told me he wasn't sure, and it could be another year, So I knew I had to get something quick, or I'd be out of business.
During this time I had kept in touch with Tony Larking and his designers over in England.

So I rung them up, and found out they had a working prototype and they were just about ready to ship the first consoles!
So I ordered the first one in the USA.

And at that time I decided whatever console got delivered first, either the TLA or the DAKING was going to end up in my "A" room.

Well the TLA arrived first, approx. 18 months before Geoff's console did, so that ended up in my main room.
And I gotta tell ya I love the damn thing.
And so do all my clients.
Contrary to most of the posts here on Gearslutz, the console sounds and works beautifuly....I really dig it.

From Jazz, Blues, METAL, to FOLK music...it has worked perfectly and sounds wonderful in all circumstances.

Now the Daking Console is also friggin amazing although a completly different animal, and the fact that I have the two consoles here is a wonderful feature.
Because if I track on one, I mix on the other and the difference of the two consoles make for a great final project!

Yeah 9 days...no kidding.

Two days later and I've now been informed that the singer wants to re tweak the vocal blend....I also heard today that the label hated the mix...
But the band and the manager loved it...
Go figure...

Now do you understand why I have bar in my joint...
