Proud to say that I'm now a full time audio engineer...on average 60-75 hours per week.

My day job is as an audio engineer for a video production company, mixing for television and video projects...also recording on location sound, sound design, etc.

On the weekends I've recently landed a gig mixing the worship and services for a local church with several locations as their broadcast mix engineer...tons of fun both Sat. and Sun.

And anytime in-between is spent in my personal studio producing and mixing music for local artists.

Right now I have very little down time...but it's good

I'm currently the staff Audio Engineer at YouTube Space Los Angeles and have a writer/ producer deal with Warner Music to write music for network TV shows. History - The previous 12 years I worked as Audio and Broadcast Engineer for a TV development division of Warner Brothers and 5 years before that I worked for Neve doing repairs, installs & training for their music, film scoring and broadcast products. The previous 7 years was as a bench tech doing component level repairs of Synths, MI and consumer audio devices. The previous 10 years I was a performing musician. Honestly, audio & music is a challenging way to make a living. I've been really blessed and for that I am eternally grateful.

I spent 4 years of my life working as a web developer, user interface engineer for software companies and websites (ecommerce), then I spent 6 years running my own ecommerce biz from home. It was VERY profitable at one time, but I wasn't passionate about it and I subconsciously self-sabotaged the company I owned to force me out of the just-doing-it-for-the-money mindset.

For the past year and a half my day job has been doing session work as a remote vocalist and songwriter for those who need help with their lyrics.

I thought I wanted to go heavy and hard with it, but I had to be honest with myself this past weekend and admit that my allegiance is to my original dream, making my own music. I couldn't figure out why I wasn't chasing more session work like I should.

Today, I decided I am going to venture back into ecommerce and hustle in a new industry; maybe even something in music, but not necessarily so.

The starving artist mode was interesting and humbling, but it is not for me. I love waking up and doing music, but I don't like going without, not just for myself but for my family...like when they need financial help.

Therefore, my day job now - is figuring out my day job. : )

Good thing is I'll still be self-employed. I haven't really done the 9-5 thing since 2004. Though I did get a web dev job back in 2010 that lasted 5-6 months where I got to telecommute some days. I HATED that caged feeling.

On to the next ecommerce hustle. : )

In order for me to move forward with my music goals, I need money to make things happen quicker. It is what it is.

I design and produce Nursery Wall Decals

Just me & my sister; so we are our own bosses. Great 'cos it gives me enough flexibility to go on tour or promo when I need to

Yes, being your own boss does give you that flexibility to still be able to do your music when you want.

Sounds like a cool gig you guys' got going.
