This is actually part of what I do -- for kids of all ages

The other part is writing web applications using Flex, ColdFusion, and sometimes Java. I'm not a huge fan of Flex or ColdFusion (or really Adobe in general), but it certainly pays the bills.

I like to imagine that I run a project studio, but since moving half-way across the country, the amount of clientele has dropped.

I'm also trying to start freelancing as a composer for indie/low-budget/DIY video games/mods.

Left a full time music carreer in 1995 and started a pro AV contracting business. Working on a recreational studio (work in progress).

When I was a full time starving musician living in an apartment, all I really had was my gear. It was also my means of income and took me a long time to obtain it bit by bit. I used to hide stuff like my MKS 80, and effects processors in a closet under clothing and tie chains around some of the other items when I knew I was going out for a long day. Nobody would give me insurance on that gear.

What do you do for a day job?

I'm an audio production student / aspiring producer dj and i'm curious what everyone else out there does to make a living? How many of you work full time in the audio industry one way or the other? What about those of you with a totally unrelated career? How do you pay the bills?

I'm 22 years old and my last job was working full time 42 hours a week as an ambulance dispatcher for a private ambulance company. I did that for about nine months and the sitting around for twelve hour shifts got to my head, and my physique, so i quit. Now i'm unemployed and i'm struggling to find a reliable job while being in school, and i'm worried about what i'm going to do once i graduate. I'm going to do everything i can to make sure i get a job in my degree field, but that spans so many different directions who knows where i might wind up.

Anyways, just curious, what do you do for a day job?

Fiber-optic and DSL repair tech. Climbin' poles with spikes and ****. Ugh. And one day, an architect...
The thing I don't like about having a very physical job is my energy level when I get home... I have the most motivation to make music early in the day, not after 8 hours of outdoor work.
