I'm an industrial design engineer by profession, but I do not work in that field. I'm a senior consultant and partner at a innovation, communications and strategy consultancy. We're based in the Netherlands.

p.s. quite a lot of people in the engineering / technology and / or design professions here.

My dad opened his own coffee shop last year, he's never been happier with his work life.

When he was 18 he was voted young mechanic of the year and worked high up in toyota's mechanicy bits. He's owned his own plumbing component manufacturing companies. He's been a self employed bespoke kitchen/bathroom designer and installer. He's been a special needs bathroom designer and installer.

A few years ago he just said "**** it" and decided he'd had enough.

His girlfriend bought him a book on coffee for ****s and giggles. A couple of years later he opened his own café.

If you're passionate about it - like he is, or enjoy a bloody good coffee - like I do - then its so much fun to work there.

Its a great dream to have dude, and I hope something comes of it for you one day

Me? I'm the sound engineer for a jazz based venue, as well as doing freelance stuff around the nearby towns. I love it

I pretend like I'm working and surf the internet all day...for a living. Although, I'm supposed to be writing php applications along with front end web development (html/css/javascript).

I'd really like to get into making interactive touch screen / motion sensitive installments. Maybe for kids or some ****.

Thought I might throw in an update of what I'm doing.
Im now a Student/Locksmith/DJ.
I've just started a Bachelor of Science majoring in Maths and Stats, still working at the parents locksmith shop but have cut back to 4 days and I have cut back the DJing from two nights a week to one.

Really enjoying the study but I haven't had much time for music which sucks.

haha seems like it, for whatever reason a lot of us here are in tech-related professions, of course anyone who's seen the movie "office space" knows, that just means we're really carpenters deep inside...
