Then, Thursday last week an on site co-worker was killed instantly when he was struck by a 12x 20 foot concrete form... he was 34 and had 2 kids.

I have done other things in the past. I may be a bit shaken up by this latest accident, but I think I really need to find a new line of work...
Thats hectic, i probably wouldnt of come to work the next few days after something like that. Thought of going to university and studying?

Yeah it is hectic. Injuries are pretty common place in the construction business. The site has been shut down for an investigation since it happened. It will reopened tomorrow, so I will have to return to work as much as I would prefer not too.

Going back to school would be ideal. Not sure what I would take tho. Perhaps something like media studies or communications.

Thats a good way to keep your options open.thumbsup

I should start looking into some different courses. I will have to look around and consider my choices a bit first.

UI/UX Visual Designer - Basically I study user behavior(not purely me) and go through usability fundamentals then execute with visual design and front end development. I use to do a lot of flash but got sick of it quick, so this position suited me, i don't have to do a lot of it, but when i need to i can.

I've always been a tinkler in different instruments, it didn't register that it could maybe become a partial career until a couple of years ago. But I know its still a long road, n i wish i've had that epiphany in my youth. so far, I'm just enjoying the ride.

Aside from the very random landscaping & small construction work I've been fortunate enough (IE worked my balls off) to be able to play my drums & record locally for a living. I'm not talking a huge fancy studio, or a mobile rig that's.... a huge fancy studio, just some simple tools that I adore! Mostly though, I just help local bands get some recordings that are "a bit better than a really good demo" at a fair price!

All this aside, I'm really thinking about heading up to Seattle to attend a modest performing arts school... since playing the drums & hearing my instrument in a good mix, and feeling the foot-tappin' vibe is really my passion... heh

I am a recording technician at a local university. My duties are:

1. Record student recitals and faculty concerts (we have nearly 300 concerts a year).

2. Make sure all A/V equipment in all the classrooms are working.

3. Update and maintain all the media labs and recording studios so that they are working properly for the students to use.

I also do about fifty other things having nothing to do with music but help keep this place running.
