To Don: yeah i've been "potentially dangerous" for a long time...lol.

and yes, "they" have shown up at my house to "observe and report".

Ahh, the united socialist states of america...I love the the post '911' state, suspension of rights, no more p*ssy coitus interuptus(sorry posse comitatus or whatever), you can be jailed for hours, days or months without actual charges. Not that that's ever happened to me...fuuck

Oh and "they" don't knock either...haha.

What really worries me is that all the "sheep-people" out there don't mind selling they're "freedom" down the river for some so-called stimulus bucks and band-aids. Well hey, i guess everything can be purchased for a $ these days.

I don't mind speaking out, there are many "crimes to humanity" being committed these days, and not just in a foreign country you've never heard of. Just look up and around, become aware. There is so much more to life than what is being 'sold' to us. But, many are content with the status quo. More power to them, be ignorant-it is bliss!

Well, enough of my ranting...let the flaming begin

On the Jobs note: lots of mastering and mixing jobs coming into my studio the last few weeks-happiness is a warm console.

As You Were,

Nathan.

It probably doesn't fit your schema but all that came from the so called freedom loving republicans and their mastermind president GWB.

On a side note, they don't seem to want to allow people a free choice when it comes to abortion.

I wish you kept your politics to yourself and out of this thread, which simply asked what your day job was...

Thanks for coming in to spoil it!

I can't speak for Mystic but what pisses me off is this stereotypical misconception, if you're against what the Obama administration is doing, then you must've been a big fan of the Bush administration.

They're both just a couple of sleazy salesmen for Global Slavery, Inc. and their subsidiary, War Crimes & Torture International, LLC.

And another ridiculous misconception: If a person is passionately upset with government corruption and criminality, then they are dangerous "anti-government" wackos who want complete anarchy.

Both of these misconceptions are propagated by the media which is largely owned by the war profiteers.

And same goes for you too: please keep your politics out of here.

Seems like you might be suffering from a misconception of what an audio forum is about.

Thank you for your consideration.

Don't tell me what to do. You're neither a moderator or my mother.

This OT thread has been back and forth on the political side for a long time. When people talk about employment it's destined to become political. If reality makes you feel uncomfortable, don't read it.

Yep and obviously no one cares about old war vets in Berlin either. heh

Point is, like conversations - these topics have a natural flow man.

And you're not a moderator - if you don't like it don't risk opening it.

To be completely honest, after only one week away, I think there was an audible moan from me when I saw this topic back.

I read/post to this thread, because I LIKE THE TOPIC! I think it was a great simple idea for people to simply chime in on what (if any) jobs they are doing in addition to their audio interest. And I am interested in seeing what peolpe do.

It would not be very difficult for me to flip your argument around, and say: if you don't want to say what your job is, why post anything else here? Start your own thread about the "socialist downfall" or whatever is on your mind: then I will be able to "not read it"... (Better yet: if your thoughts on the state of society have nothing to do with audio: just find another forum...)
It really sucks when people start their political rants completely disregarding the point of the thread.
Anyway.

Yes, of course i am not a moderator, but it doesn't take one to see that people are having hard time sticking to the point. Why shouldn't I be able to ask (politely) if they could refrain from drifting off topic? Especially into the politics...

And I did express earlier on that it really is a shame that all the talk about guns and politics did really ruin a great thread idea.

Respectfully,
p.

So if you're out at a nice restaurant or bar with your friends and the conversation suddenly gets a bit political, do you throw a fit and demand your friends only discuss matters you're familiar or comfortable with?

Sometimes people mistake the topic of politics with the topic of living the human experience. They're completely entangled. We have so much potential to make life better for everyone on this planet but we're consistently held back by a few wealthy, megalomaniacal control freaks who are putting the final touches on their global high-tech Orwellian surveillance police state. Even in "the land of the free" the Bill of Rights is now just an empty formality. Every single amendment marked with several *

If you think this has no effect on your day job, then you're living in denial.

Hello again,

I was just hoping that this could remain an opportunity for people to share their occupation (as intended by the OP).

That's all.

But I guess this is too much to ask. (And it's just that: I asked for/about it, I didn't throw a fit, or demanded anything, nor is it about my comfort.)

Once again: I would appreciate your understanding.

Sincerely,
p.

How did this turn into a political discussion?!?!

I myself am all audio 18-20 hours a day. The degree's say Audio Engineer, but I am a post audio mix engineer, sound designer and composer for the entertainment industry. I specialize in marketing and branding for a lot of the major and cable networks. I've also mixed and mastered a mess of stuff over the years.

I love it, but need another hobby besides analog synths. Does going to the gym count?

You SOOOO don't need a gym. Just lug around heavy gear. thumbsup
I carried a Rhodes around for a short time when I used to play live. What a total pain! But it plays amazing and sounds so good. What synths you carrying?

I just sit around in chairs all day staring at Pro Tools and Nuendo, which is why I need the gym. Hhahah.

Aside from the Rhodes, I carry a Voyager (heavy beast too), Virus KC (moderately heavy thanks to the metal case), Hammond (emulation, thank god), and a MicroKorg (so light, that it doesn't really count)
