CODEX?

Buy your vitamins now folks, cause it looks like tomarrow it may be illegal to buy them without a perscription. CODEX is a law thats being voted on tomarrow which would make even vitamin C illegal to sell without a script. I called my congressman for some clarification and left a message. This was WAY under the radar. I wonder what will happen to all the health food stores like GNC. The media seems silent as far as I can tell.

Anyone have more information about this then me?

that's impossible dude. you can't give prescriptions for alternative medicine heh . those are natural substances that occur in nature, not chemical drugs synthesized in labs.

if you're talking about the FDA tightening up regulation on supplements, that's a different story. and THAT is a corrupt organization that just wants to stamp out the competition to drug manufacturers.

but even so, i don't think that'll happen for another couple years... as it is right now, the drug companies are in rough shape with their images going downhill... killing people right and left with their stockmarket drugs

yeah. looks like they're tightening up regulation on manufacturers. unless i didn't look at it closely enough.

personally i'm cynical about the government's CONCERN over real health. bull**** guys lol... it's about money. always has been, always will be.

but this doesn't look too bad. just cracking down on manufacturing regulations and distribution

Edit** eventually though i'll bet that the supplement industry is gonna be driven out of business by over-zealous regulation and legislation that favors FDA-supported drug companies. studies show that more and more people are turning to herbs and supplements instead of comitting suicide by taking Vioxx and ****.

it's really too bad that healthcare is a business. i mean obviously it has to be, but doesn't it ever hit people that the healthcare business needs THEIR business in order to STAY in business??

i've got the highest respects for trauma surgeons and those guys. they thanklessly save lives day in and day out. but who gives a **** about Pfizer. they're Wall Street in pill form.

Maybe the only real ironic part of this is the US can't follow international law when it comes to torture or war, but in the case of vitamin....

"but natural suppliments can't cure diseases!" they say...
I think they need to stop calling things like acid reflux a disease! That's insane!

What next... Headaches will be called Oxygen Deficiancy Disease and you'll need a percription to drink some water!?

everything's a disease in this country. and everything needs a drug to treat it.

"so you're unable to focus on things at work? you're having problems concentrating on things that bore you day in day out, and are of zero interest to you and that you've always told yourself you'd never want to do in life? well then, let me prescribe you the latest drug for Adult Attention Deficit Disorder, fresh out of the hands of idealistic scientists getting paid under the table by fortune 500 companies. it won't cure you of this tragic disorder of not being able to concentrate on things that bore you, and it won't make those boring things any more interesting, but the chemicals in the drug will at least manipulate you into thinking you're cured of your disorder, even though side effects may include--but are not restricted to-- induced vomiting, bloading, stool leakage, gas pains, minor intestinal irritation, daily migraines, and occasional seizures... and a few sexual side effects. oh, and the increased risk of stroke or heart attack by 85%. other than that, you're good to go "
