I'm definitely not doing that again. If I do, it'll have a contract that lists circumstances that allow me to bill extra.

The dude was someone I've known for nearly 10 years and went to school with so I was lenient, but I won't be that lenient again.
NEVER DO FIXED RATE PER/SONG FOR ANYONE FOR ANY REASON AT ANY TIME

@EMMST that session sounds like Hell and that hook is awful, the rapper probably means 'Jects as in the projects aka public housing.

I wish you were in my city as I wouldn't put you through that plus I always write my own verses/choruses, just not the music as I lack production acumen.

I have one that's pretty dumb on my part, not necessarily anything I said.. but maybe worth sharing. I was getting intermitten pops when mixing down. Odd considering my PC is a beast and my HD usage was at around 2 or 4 pcnt.. all ssd. CPU was under 10 percent.

Seemed to be issue with my adat unit feeding more channels out. Everything worked fine the day before so I was super confused and started troubleshooting. I never get dropouts but I thought maybe clocking issues, maybe settings got messed up, preset etc.. Everytime i tried something, it seemed fine for a few seconds, maybe even 30.. then nothing. Probably spent 20 minutes checking settings in adat,saw, interface..,

Guess what ??

The adat cables weren't even plugged in. Somehow they were pulled out and resting on the socket causing some of the light to bounce off the flap and manage to send a signal down into the unit. Maybe not as impressive for some unless you could have seen how they were sitting.

Nah man. It’s just “the jets.”

Take it from a NYer that makes Hip Hop.

Makes sense. That "c" is about as worthwhile as the first "r" in February.

That makes sense to me as well.

so:

"dejected" = kicked out of public housing
"subject" = the basement of the public housing
"conjecture" = to form a idea about public housing based on incomplete information

I was in a studio session a few days ago to do a live Latin recording. The perc player had his gf there and she like wow what a nice piano (gorgeous c7) can you play? He’s like of course I can play honey. He tried to impress her and begins to play a terrible Latin tumbao with one finger and says to her oh honey I can’t really play good and loud because this is a bad piano, it has no volume knob and begins to look for one...

We all just played along because his gf kinda
Was impressed by his piano “skills” for some reason.

Probably applies to all studio projects as well:

"dejected" = Project you started , but got rid of because it was a PITA;

"subject" = Project within a project, or project that didn't turn out as good as you though it would;

"conjecture" = When someone calls wanting to book studio time and offers to send a check for more than the full cost. All you have to do is deposit the check, and give the excess to.......

I've heard several country-radio attempts at rapping. But they weren't mostly gospel; they were mostly stupid. Mostly gospel sounds like it might be an improvement.

Translated, that means they are sneaking in a line about praying to Jesus (or going to church) before they go out mudding in their trucks with their buddies. Pretty deep integration of musical genres and lyrical message, mission accomplished! Someone get that good ol' boy a grammy!

As I walk down the altar deflecting shadows of death
living a righteous life with that wine and wafer breath.

The drummer brought custom earplugs to the session.

He took them out and went outside to smoke.

A few minutes later, the intern grabs them, put them in his ears, and starts laughing.

He turns to me and whispers:

“These in-ears were off the whole time... I’m not hearing anything click on playback. How did he not realize? I guess it’s true what they say about drummers... ( buh-dum tishhh ).”

Not very smart, AND not very hygienic.

SMH.

I was tempted to let the situation play itself out.
