I m an unsigned -yet ; )- musician, what s the best DIY website I can choose?

Hi all

as an unsigned -yet- musician, I need a website

what s the best DIY website I can choose?

I was thinking about squarespace, which basically seems to offer all what a musician could dream of.

Any alternatives?

If you are like me yet unsigned, What are you using?

As Squarespace is not free, it could be interesting to know the -good- free alternatives.

Thanks in advance for your answers!

I'd say just pony up a coupla bucks to get your own domain and a web designer. If you're quite certain you're gonna get signed, you can consider it an investment with a guaranteed return! hehthumbsup

Plus having your own ftp can come in handy.

Dont think youll find any free ones exept Myspace and sevices like that.
But it´s not that hard to do your own website with Iweb or programs like that.
If you have a Mac buy Iweb and make your own site and register your domain that way your in contorol of the content and updates..

If you want to DIY web design, go to portable apps and download KompoZer or Nvu Portable, they're open source and free! They also have a FireZilla ftp and a grip of other freeware apps, including MS Office knockoffs (word, excel, powerpoint, etc) and the best is Gimp, a free knockoff of Photoshop (very powerful!).
Even better than all of that you can run all of these off of a jump drive and everything comes in under 700MB, so you don't even need a large drive. There's also a portable ClamWin anti-virus and a really useful audio editor Audacity Portable. You can take these to any PC computer anywhere and run them without leaving a footprint.

PortableApps.com - Portable software for USB drives | Your Digital Life, Anywhereâ„¢

I don't work for them, I'm just really excited that people are making useful open source software that doesn't include Microsoft code bloat... good stuff.
