Who listens to such music?

My guess is this was targeted at a relatively young audience. This seems like the type of thing that might be shown at a movie theater between the previews and the movie.

The song/video does nothing for me but that is moot.

The concept behind this is that we humanoids are trashing the planet. Species are becoming extinct at an alarming rate. The oceans are becoming receptacles for plastic waste. The air and water is polluted and we are paving and building to the point that nature is becoming a rare commodity. This SUCKS and we need to pay attention and stop screwing up the planet. This IS a very important message.

Why the OP is outraged over the music instead of being outraged over the fact the planet is getting crapped all over is to say the least, interesting. Personally I think there is a lot of worse stuff passing for music these days than this tune.

Again, these are just my opinions...
Yeah there's an island of plastic waste the size of Texas in the Pacific, and people are crying about having to adjust to paper straws. Which is just the tip of the iceberg. THAT'S outrageous. A new generation of kids has to be raised without some incomprehensible emotional knee-jerk reaction to cutting back on plastic.

I'm practicing for my next humanitarian charity fundraising hit song to save our grass from being walked on 24/7 by inconsiderate people all over the world that have sex in their polluted homes and eat lots of tuna, before aliens abducted them because baby lions are licked when eating a black or and or and or ...or white zebra, so ... if we'll respect our grass then all the fat pigs and the horny baboons will be happy once again, and most important, will be able to forgive Germany and to be cool with the Russians. Oh, I'm pretty sure it will do well.

It's not a "message" video, it's just a joke. It's not educating kids about climate change, it's just designed to get lots of clicks via raunchy adolescent humor and celebrity cameos. Those clicks then make a bunch of money which gets donated to the charity cause. It's not that hard to understand.

Personally I'm happy that I live in a country with freedom of speech instead of a country where it's illegal to hurt the feelings of a foreign dictator. But it's ok, we forgive you Germany.

Of course some of you are going to cry "no politics" when someone says something you don't like while ignoring that this whole thread is inherently political. The OP didn't criticize the melody, harmony, mixing, production, or anything like that. It's just typical conservative pearl-clutching "think of the children" garbage. So a comedian made a stupid song that you don't like. Big deal.

So...the author loves several continents and countries, but when it arrives at Germany...they stop the love and start the forgiveness?

Well, yeah, that's humour, parody, sarcasm, there's a coherent theme and it makes sense, it's an intelligent construct. You might not like it for whatever reasons, but at least you understand what is about.

Fine how? Legally, yes. Morally? Who cares? I didn't make it. But yes, in the USA it's perfectly fine to "sell any vulgarity, profanity, garbage or excrements" you want even if it's for personal gain and not charity! It's called the first amendment.

Is this really the first time you've heard a bad song? The first time you've encountered vulgar, juvenile humor? First time you've heard profanity? If this really gets you so worked up you must have been living in quite a bubble.

But that's not the point. Just because a song is created to benefit a charity, that doesn't mean the lyrics need to be some coherent educational message. It's just stupid comedy. I don't personally find it funny but I guess it probably wasn't made for me.

There was a message. It's just that there was a lot of extraneous/obfuscatory stuff in there as well. Maybe the producers know the pulse of young people better than many on this thread? Even so, I think the message of the song could have been more coherent and less of a hot mess...

from the song:
Quote:
I mean, there's so many people out here who don't think Global Warming's a real thing
You know? We gotta save this planet
We're being stupid
Unless we get our **** together now

This is not about using profanity and pornographic language, I, myself say much, much worse things sometimes ...but the joining of several languages together that my brain defines it as grotesque(imagine a combination of The Antwoord + The human centipede movie + Mother Teresa) that for some reason it it is not from a dark, obscure audio niche, but mainstream, with tons of famous artists and actors involved in it. Grotesque was always a niche genre in any art form, from music to sculpture, paint, literature, movie, etc, and it was normal to be so, but with this project I see it advanced at a level that I never thought possible, and promoting some decent, honest, feelings related to wishing good for our planet with the grotesque of sex and politics in a very perverse way makes it so much worse than anything I've ever encountered, and to me this is disturbing and definitely not normal from a human point of view, regardless of any amendment, because we are humans, not animals, it is why we have a conscience, an intelligence and a spiritual sense of the world and our universe. It's a limit that once crossed...everything goes, and I think this song severely crossed that line.
