Honoring the greats in your own way?

As the New Years -=1983=- kicked off, the world may have been listening to Auld Lang Syne, but my friends and me played a fresh new pressing of Jimi Hendrix's 1983... (A Merman I Should Turn to Be), and made sure it was easy to hear . To us it was kind of sacred, because Jimi wasn't around and we thought we were all the young dudes, carrying the news, in a sense.

B-52s screamed across the sky at all hours because of a nearby Air Force base, which further fueled our suspicions Jimi's dystopian world was at hand.

I'd never given it much thought over the years (except when Mermon is playing of course) but I just had that memory and thought I'd share and see if that jogs good memories out of anyone else?
