Always loved the name the Meatles and their 1st album 'Beat the Meatles'. talk about coat tails...

My fav maybe... 'Strawberry Alarm Clock' good music too.
good song names: 'Incense & Peppermints' YouTube

Many early bands put a bunch of cut out words on a simple board game spinner and spun the dial and then linked 2 or 3 or 4 words together for their name. You can come up with some gems that way. Still relevant today.

'Word association' is fantastic too. You get a few people and you vocalize your stream of consciousness to the word just said.

how about - 'Social Vipers' or 'Vipers of Society' "Vipers & Venom" 'Striking Vipers' (Vipors)
'Hooded Vipers' Switching Tracks' or Parliament of Crows.'

I like to look at potential initials and SV VOS VAV V&V POC respectively...
I also think the aesthetics and positioning of letters are extremely important. (as well as type font) gl

The choice of a new generation.

Names and logos are NOT shoot the breeze. This was LOW END THEORY. They moved it. I made the correct choice.
I'm assuming they moved it because low end theory is about discussing "cheap/low end" gear. If you asked about good cheap starting instruments, it probably would've stayed in Low end theory.

In the 80's it was popular to use names that suggested being "BIG"

So you started a rock band and called it "Asia" coz that's a BIG place - big by association.

Maybe it will be cool to go the other way and go for "small"

The Quarks

Yea the 80's had lot of bigness in the names... like Big Country

the 60s had a lot of anachronisms - maybe it time for that again... or the new age

This thread is reminding me of a hundred 'so what shall we call the band?' conversations I've had in pubs down the years. And why almost nothing usable came from them.

You mentioned 60s acts earlier. Jefferson Airplane had a song called Plastic Fantastic Lover which would probably work as a band name (if someone hasn't already used it.)

Not for pop but I always wanted to make a punk band and call it "Late Term Abortion" just because that sounds like a great name for a punk band.
