I was a designer and logos are considered all important, much effort and money is put into the creation and design of them. But in the end the power is not in the logo, but what it represents. The Coca Cola logo would mean nothing if it didn't represent the uber successful brown water.
Band names are the same, it's fun to come up with them, they can be a statement in and of themselves, but ultimately they don't matter anywhere near as much as what they represent.
So don't stress about it, create one you like and then form a great band. You will not be judged on it's name unless it's really, really bad.

Im thinking you should just challenge Cobra Starship to a fight to the death. Winner gets to use the name.

Bunch of guys and I came up with the idea to call our band:

“The Best Of”

Then we would title each reacord some famous artist or band.

The Best Of:

Queen
Sting
M&M
The Beatles
John Mayer
Etc......

Then we just sit back and count the amount of angry emails we get while also banking our azzes off! Haha!

There is no crime in that. In about 1980-81 the demand for Michael Jackson tickets was so amazing, that night in the area he toured there were 2-3 impersonators shows also. Sometimes the Michael Jackson impersonator got a better review. Even better, some got special visits from the man himself like Disney World. You got to be REALLY special though. Yes they made bank.

You mean......PIAF?

People could think you're referring to Edith, which would give you instant artsy cred. My favourite so far! I may just use it.

It's both. It's not an either/or. Logos, names, etc...they're all about image and that is VERY VERY important. Why do you think marketing and advertising is such huge business? Or actors and musicians often use stage names? etc etc.

I agree not to get too wrapped around the axle about it, but I wouldn't be too nonchalant about it either.

Names and logos are NOT shoot the breeze. This was LOW END THEORY. They moved it. I made the correct choice.
