Mean Town Blues Woodstock lyrics question

Hi,

I have no better idea as to where to post this question, so here goes:

Does anyone have any clue as to what lyrics Johnny Winter used on the third verse of Mean Town Blues when he performed it at Woodstock?

He was always pretty loose with the lyrics in general, but I have pretty much figured out what the original lyrics he used on the album version are.

However, at Woodstock he goes off script and the third verse starts with "People sure act funny". But then he doesn't use the rest of the lyrics to that old song, its something else he's singing [or "bluesing"].

This has become a project, as the song is popular around here to cover.

Anybody?????

Thanks for any help!

Well its looking like no one on this board knows those lyrics, so I'll ask a different question.

Does anyone know another place on the web that I might be able to get an answer to that?

Thanks,

At the risk of overstating the obvious: I have never been disappointed because I got too few hits when I typed "lyrics to (insert name of song here)" in Google.

So if you haven't already, try typing

lyrics to Mean Town Blues Johnny Winter Woodstock

into Google and then let it do its thing.

Well, I have definitely done a lot of that with this one, and they never include the weird third verse from Woodstock. Even if you include the word Woodstock in the search. Actually, the other lyrics are all wacky too, but I have those figured out.

They must be somewhere. Maybe his brother knows.

Pretty close but you might have missed a couple.

Take another crack at it if you don’t mind.

I am saddened by the prospect that no one may be able to solve or translate Johnny's pitched mumbling.

Please, for blues' sake, if you have this vital information, come forth and make yourself known.

cheers,

First three lines sound to me like

People sure act funny when
you're from some little-known,
you're from some small town

....but God only knows what that final mumble might be.

Well, I don't know. Some of it sounds kind of right, but I think you can do better. Thanks for trying to decipher the master mumbler. Feel free to take another crack at it.

I'm thinking of contacting Edgar and asking him if he has any clue.

I'm curious about the tuning of his 12 string fender. Is it open A or standard or something else?
