Two-way wireless radios for theater crew.

The community theater (read: not a lot of money) I work with is looking for a new two-way radio for the Stage Manager to communicate with backstage crew and the sound board operator (they are sitting right next to the light board).

The system needs to be two-way (so that the crew can ack/report problems), and full-duplex (talk and listen at the same time) would be nice. We're fine with PTT system (like Walkie-Talkies, but with headsets and more reliable. We'd need 5~6 end-points.

We currently use Motorola CP110 radios which have been giving us big headaches. They appear to be discontinued, and they have an annoying habit of either transmitting randomly (so that every other radio only listens, preventing anyone - the Stage Manager - from talking), or thinking someone is transmitting (also preventing anyone from talk).

I've used Clear-Com and Telex systems before, and they're great, but they're expensive. We'd like a system that is reliable and inexpensive.

Note: we're in the US, so 600MHz systems are no longer viable, and we'd prefer to not interfere with WiFi (2.4 GHz) nor wireless mics (somewhere in the 500 Mhz range).

Thanks in advance for recommendations!
