Where can I buy a Tentelometer?

Hi, I’m looking to buy a Tentelometer. Preferably a T2-H20-ML or T2-H20-1;One that will work for 1/4” to 2” tape with the longer, straight probes. It doesn’t seem like they are made anymore. Any ideas? Any help is much appreciated.

Any luck with finding a Tentelometer?

I've read a discussion about alternatives on tapeheads.

"For tape tension and brake tension, some manuals tell you to wrap a string around a 7" reel and hook a spring scale to the string to measure the tension".

Hi, thanks for the reply. No luck. I called JRF at JRF magnetics. I figured if anyone knew it would be him. He said hey aren't made anymore as far as he knows. I use a spring scale sometimes depending on the machine. However on something like those Tascam 388s where the tape tension is calibrated by adjustment of the tension arms via opto sensors, it's really helpful to have a tentelometer. I guess I'll just have to hope one pops up on eBay.

Check with Coast Recording Equipment Supply in N. Hollywood. They may have one in NOS.

I remember when there was a tentelometer store on the Main Street of any middling burg, and ten of them in any major city. And a bottle of Coke was ten cents.

Look in the online stores, there is a large selection and reasonable prices.

If you find the time, please include a link. I've tried sourcing one online with no luck. I'm pretty sure I'm using Google correctly...

This one seems to be designed to be used for Betacam though I don't know why it wouldn't be able to be used for 2" tape. The manual included says it has a range for up to 240grams thought the meter indicates much higher similar to the model T2-H20-ML I used to work with. Maybe the probes are a different diameter...

I think someone should design a Talentometer. And if you don't get at least -3 you don't get to record.
