Tom Dowd will be truly missed.

His discography is an eclectic body of work. As a staff engineer at Atlantic Records for three decades, he worked with all styles of music. Rock, Jazz, R&B, soul, you name it, he recorded it. Tons of live recordings too!

He was a musician, a technician, recording engineer, mixer and producer. He did it all. Recorded all styles of music, that is...

His awesome list of jazz great's include, Ornette Coleman, John Coltrane, Charlie Mingus, the Modern Jazz Quartet, Ray Charles, Milt Jackson, Freddie Hubbard, among many others.

Some of his other work include, Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart, Cream, Chicago, MeatLoaf, The Allman Bros., The Bee Gees, Diana Ross, Booker T. & the MG's, Derek and the Dominos, Dr. John, The Drifters, Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding, etc., etc., etc.... The list goes on and on.

He will be missed, but his ideas and recorded music will live on forever!

That's another old school guy gone...

Tom Dowd's engineered some of my favorite tracks on the planet.

He will be missed, but as Remoteness said, his ideas and recordings will live forever.

I had the great fortune to work beside Tom on the Allman brothers 20th tour in Jacksonville, Fl (while Greg was still with cher..) and was amazed at his vision, in spite of the fact that Greg decided to OD that night during the first set...even afterwards he was so gratious...I am truly saddened by this loss...another great one gone...

peace, love and music...
