Wow, another rock and roll icon gone.

We've lost quite a few 70's/80's music legends the last couple of years. :(

Saw him once leaving his Grammercy Park brownstone; very tall and lean.

My condolences to his family and friends.

Goodbye Ric...

Gonna miss him, as he was a fixture here in the little Village of Millbrook.

Besides all the other houses they owned, they have a weekend getaway house here in my little town.
We would see Ric & Paulina (and the kids) almost every weekend for years.
They purchased a beautiful colonial house right next to Mary Tyler Moore's place.

You couldn't miss him no matter the time of year, he was usually dressed in either black jeans, or black leather pants, 6 foot something, very, very thin and a white "T" shirt, and a long black leather coat....
wanderig the streets of Millbrook.
Haha

He'd stop in at all the shops, restaurants, and come into my pub during bands doing a sound check in the afternoon...although he never attended a actual show.
GO figure...

A few years later he called me at the studio...
And as it turns out I recorded the last Cars album "Move Like this"

Got to spend lot of time with him...
He was a great guy!

I'm gonna miss him being around here...

We had an animation studio above Synchro Sound and The Cars were essentially out landlord since they sublet the building. Julia their business manager was fantastic. They used to come up to check out a swimming pool behind the building where flight crews hung out. Ric was always really nice and seemed quite shy. Honestly I never know what to say to people on that level and figure it's a work environment, so basically let them hang. There was a tech Andy Topeka who was really a good guy.

So sad Synchro got turned into a retail store, no plaque or anything..... Newbury Street is hugely developed and back then was where all the photographers had their studios. Wurlitzer was across the street for gear and a very different vibe. Used to go nuts when they'd lay drums in seemed to go on forever. Cool studio and a real loss. Ric passing is really sad since he was a good guy and for me anyway, the end of a very cool chapter in not only Boston's music scene, but music in general. Truly a legendary guy, and not many out there!.......
