Pete Shelley R.I.P.

Just heard the sad news. Such an influence and an inspiration to so many.

Thoughts with his family and loved ones.

Sad news. It's a funny age 63, not exactly young, but still too young to die.

Not just a founder of one of the first punk groups but an electronic music pioneer as a solo artist from the 1980s stretching back to 1974 with his experimental album Sky Yen.

I saw the Buzzcocks in 1978; the last few bars of 'Ever fallen in Love..." encapsulate all the best character of punk/new wave music...worth the price of admission alone.

Thanks Pete.

An iconic voice and a great talent, he will be missed. It’s hard to pick his greatest work but “Why Can’t I Touch It’ from the Buzzcocks is as fine a moment as anyone in music has had. Brilliance. Godspeed Pete.

He made alot of people dance and many people happy with his music . I loved his weird guitar tones and style and his lyric perspective was his own.

WHy do the good people go away at such an age?

An theres so many bad people in the world messing things up that live to a ripe age yet the press / media defends them in an almost heroic way.

Every time one of my heroes passes, which is starting to get alarmingly more frequent, I think the exact same thing. Bowie’s dead but ***** is still alive and sucking. I don’t get this universe. But I’m glad we had Pete Shelley. He made the world a better place with his music.
