New NAMM Believe in Music Week 2021
NAMM Announces Believe in Music Week, The Global Gathering to Unite and Support the Industry-bm21_logo_blue_weekmoyr-1-.jpg

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, and with the health and safety of NAMM members as the first priority, NAMM is reimagining how to connect all facets of the industry while benefiting those most deeply impacted by COVID-19 with the launch of Believe in Music: The global gathering to unify and support the people who bring music to the world.

Believe in Music, to be held over the week of January 18, 2021, will feature a mix of comprehensive programming and professional education at BelieveinMusic.tv, as well as an interactive marketplace to connect buyers and sellers – all designed to elevate the innovation and inspiration found across the industry while offering support for those most deeply affected by COVID. While not The NAMM Show or a virtual tradeshow, the initiative will meet the immediate business needs of NAMM member companies through thought-leader led education for all segments of the industry, networking and AI matchmaking, and business-to-business-focused opportunities to reaffirm and grow business connections, launch new products, share brand initiatives and engage with customers in real-time.

The Top 100 Dealer Awards will also be celebrated during the week. Now in its 10th year, the annual awards honor music retailers who have demonstrated a commitment to best practices, creativity and innovation in retail. The submissions process is now open for NAMM retail members and will close on October 2, 2020. Learn more and submit now at www.NAMM.org/Top100

Along with the award shows, music advocates will come together for The Grand Rally for Music Education. The annual event convenes music education advocates for a celebration of the benefits and pleasures of making music. In 2020, the Grand Rally welcomed 10-time Grammy winner Bobby McFerrin and Gimme5 for a special performance, along with a preshow performance by The Langley Ukulele Ensemble, The Legacy Ukulele Ensemble and winners of the “A Cappella at NAMM” contest.

Additional details of these events, receptions and other activities will be provided in the weeks to come.

In his final thoughts, Lamond shares, “If there’s any one common vision, it’s that as a global community, we believe in music. We believe in the future of music and in the future of our industry, and in this moment, we will unite and support music makers around the world.”

22nd July 2021 to 24th July 2021 12:00 AM to 12:00 AM
New 2021 AES Education Convention

Please join us July 22-24, 2021, in Murfreesboro and Nashville, Tennessee, for three days of workshops, papers and events focused on audio education, including curricular resources, teaching strategies and professional development for—and from--industry trainers, faculty and staff who are active instructors at the high-school, undergraduate, graduate and professional levels.

The pace of industrial, technical and social change has only accelerated since MTSU hosted the first AES Education Conference in the summer of 2013. Distance and online learning are no longer niche practices. Machine learning and intelligent automation influence many aspects of media production. The economics and underlying technologies for entertainment and communication continue to evolve rapidly, affecting our students and their career prospects. In this environment, there's a lot for us to discuss and learn from each other.

Current global conditions make it impossible for the Audio Education Conference to proceed as planned this summer. Therefore, the full three-day conference in Tennessee will be delayed by one year. Though we must wait to meet again in person, the program of workshops, papers and special events in 2021 will be stronger and more relevant than ever. Meanwhile, we are developing plans for an online symposium, on or near the original conference dates, with a series of presentations about remote delivery of audio and music instruction. Information about this online event will be posted here and distributed through AES social media channels as the details become available.

6th October 2021 to 8th October 2021 12:00 AM to 12:00 AM
New 2021 AES International Conference on Automotive Audio

Over the last 20 years, Automotive Audio has changed dramatically from being standard mono sound in one full range loudspeaker to a true multichannel playback system fully integrated and adjusted to the specific car. Today some of the most advanced sound technologies are being developed and applied in Automotive Audio. Recently the role of audio in the automotive industry has significantly changed. Sound systems are used to design the sound of cars, i.e. the sound of the car itself due to its motion and thus generation of sound (usually called noise). The impact of streaming, ride-share, autonomy, Battery Electric Vehicle’s (BEV’s), ownership models and car share could have a profound effect on the way we think about sound in and around vehicles and microphone challenges and use cases.

The conference will give an overview of the present state-of-the-art in some specific topics, and addresses many of the new scientific disciplines involved in this still-emerging field. Automotive Audio involves combinations of otherwise complementary scientific fields such as power electronics, bus systems, loudspeaker drive units, signal processing (DSP), acoustics & vibrations (NVH) and more.

New Musikmesse 2021
Musikmesse: new date in October 2021, new cooperation with Creative Hub THE ARTS+-106278192_10158495519304330_8764044636980325970_n.jpg

New Date Musikmesse: 22.–24.10.2021

Strengthening the creative industries: from 2021, the Musikmesse will be held in October parallel to the Frankfurt Book Fair and will cooperate with the Frankfurt Book Fair's creative hub THE ARTS+.

Strong partnership and new perspectives

Through its collaboration with THE ARTS+, Musikmesse has completed an important stage on an evolutionary process begun many years ago. Musikmesse was launched in 1980 as a classic product show focusing on instruments and sheet music. Since then, it has been opened up continuously to a variety of new themes and will now emphasise more than ever before the social and economic significance of music, as well as the musical experience. As always, Musikmesse at Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre will offer the best presentation setting for all companies of the music business, plus the chance to present their brands within the framework of the complementary programme of events.

In the future, too, Frankfurter Buchmesse (20 to 24 October 2021) and Musikmesse (22 to 24 October 2021) will remain independent events, each with their own individual target groups and content.

Further information about the project will be announced in the near future.
