Who can ID these snares?

The rest of the kits in these (1986) songs are all DMX sounds but the snares I don't recognize as DMX snares.

Any of you recognize these?

Thanks.

Thanks guys!
Will look into the machines / sounds mentioned.

I was thinking, could these be pitched and very wet DMX snares after all? I mean, it IS a 1986 record. All songs have just DMX and 808 sounds.

If so, which type of verbs would you suggest for this?
Something gated maybe?

You're right it does!
Makes kinda sense from an artistic perspective as these snares came from 'Licensed to ill' but that would mean, I guess, they had a custom eprom for their DMX?. It can be found on a couple of Run Dmc songs from that era as well.

Either that or they tried to emulate how the drums were processed on 'The levee'. or......... ?

Yamaha RX series? I doubt it is DMX, even pitched. Though maybe its some unknown Eproms?

Possible on the custom eproms or an SP-12 maybe. Yeah, I heard that snare used a bit during the mid to late 80s.

There's an SP stock snare that sounds similar but as far as I know, been reading a lot on it, they did not use an SP on those albums, just the 808, DMX, and all 'sampling' was done either by mixing in parts of records live from SL-1200's or tape loops.

edit:

This is cool, on a 1985 song MCA raps about technical stuff that went on during sessions, custom DMX sounds indeed:

Sounds like Art of Noise, Peter Gabriel etc. so it's most likely Fairlight.
