Which DAW do you use - official poll A.D. 2017

If you use more than one, feel free to select all that you use.

After some "beta testing", this is now the corrected version of the poll. It turned out i could not re edit already assigned poll so i had to restart it.

If you use Nuendo, just select Cubase. Don't want to restart the poll now for the second time. LOL!

So apparently Don was off making new patches for the JV-1080 when he restarted this thread and deleted my initial response :P

I'm seriously not surprised that LPX has such a high percentage of the marketshare (especially here, probably higher in the "real" world) but I am totally surprised that PT isn't higher up. CW too - 10 years ago that was pretty much all there was - Now? Totally different world....

Thanks for the poll DS - This is very very interesting to see.

Hope you're having a nice Sunday all!

Looks like my first vote got eaten by monsters ... re-voted.

Interesting that Reaper is polling weak so far, didn't expect that somehow.

Makes sense that Ableton, Logic, and Cubase are strong.

Off-topic, the idea of changing DAW platforms again makes my head spin... hoping to ride Cubase til Steinberg falls into the sea, and maybe update my obsolete version of Ableton (and my laptop) when I win the lottery.

I feel rather marginalised, having to select "Other" for the MV-8800 + VS-2480!

ETA: I've just started 'evaluating' Logic to see if it'll be OK on a 2008 iMac (well, as much as you can test software that Apple refuses to release in a proper trial/demo version)

I hope we hit 1000 voters. Then it will make it a more serious poll.

I like the results so far.

I've recently purchased Logic. I like the UI totally. And it comes with a TON of stuff! Took whole day to download all the packs. Still got a copy of Reaper on my Maverick partition. Can't decide which i like more. The scripting language in Reaper is beyond awesome!!!

@GregkoNYC Actually doing JD990 "Second Chapter" soundset.

@BassX none option = other.

Curious to hear from folks who voted other..keen to hear what they are using!
@ Don - have been on Logic since day 1, tried Reason, Live and ProTools but just kept going back to Logic.
I like its UI and It just works well for tracking which is all I really use it for
It's my tape recorder and works well.

I think it used to be better though, I liked Logic more before it went X.

I never figured what happened with X and why so many ppl were angry or disappointed.

I thought there is an option that lets you enable all the advanced settings.

I checked Sonar, because it's my MIDI and Tape. But soundscape is the mixer in the box.

Other (DAW) means something else than none though

I for one am rather curious how many people don't use a PC at all for making music.

Well the question is "Which DAW do you use?", not "What do you use to make music?".

I'm curious what is being used in the "other" category so thanks for listing.

My earlier post got deleted in the thread reboot -- I am 80-90% Renoise.

Old projects in Ableton, new ones in Bitwig mostly. Have also Cakewalk, but don't use it anymore. I used to make my first projects with Cakewalk very very long time ago

Not sure the reason why others did not like the X upgrade but personally speaking the simplicity was lost in the X upgrade. I think they just over complicated it - it's still good but wish I still had an old Mac in decent condition running the old Logic Pro, I really miss it.

Not sure about the setting you refer to, I'm a simple user

Logic/Protools were these things that cost a house and I could never get to grips with Cubase....

Now ask someone you know who uses Cubase to vote Logic.

Problem solved.

(we can't change votes, sorry)

I selected both Ableton and Logic but I may soon drop Ableton (which was my first DAW) altogether after 7 years. Yes, I was recording and sequencing with hardware until 2011.

I've purchased many, but only use Cubase.

The others are in a drawer somewhere.
Logic for pc that got abandoned was the biggest disappointment.

Have tried a few but usually come back to Cubase. Even though I think the UI for the latest 8x is WORSE than the original when I started out with my trusty Atari ST, I still like it.

Next best thing, Reaper - pretty good!

The rest I can take or leave, having tried most of them. But everyone is different. I started with Cubase in the beginning and so it seems mostly straightforward, despite what they try to mess up in the UI!

Cubase user here too, it's what I started on and I'm still on 2.0 using Windows XP. It's pretty much just a tape recorder with occasional effects. Does what I need.

KCS Level Two, one of the great midi sequencers. The one I truly miss though is Studio Vision Pro. I still have the final boxed version on my shelf.
