ESI-2000 sounds randomly panning?

I've been noticing something strange with my E-MU ESI-2000. Sometimes a sound will randomly pan for a second then go back to where it was set. Is this a midi issue? I have no automation for pan (just panned using the slider on the track). I'm using Cubase Studio 5.

Here is an audio file showing what I'm talking about. Could it just be phase issues?

Wow, last time. You people sure are helpful. No one has any idea what could be going on?

I had an ESI2000 for a while, I think mine did it sometimes. Software bug is my guess. Are you on the latest OS? (3.02)

Edit: Come to think of it, mine was 3.02 and still did it.

Maybe it's only playing one side of a stereo sample.

Jittery knob on a midi controller? Can you put a midi monitor in between it and the daw?

It happened with my track's kick even when I converted it to a mono sample.

Mention of a 'random panning bug' in the E4 series too:

But I don't even have the FX card installed. I'm using the analog outputs. Though I've read the random panning happens by mixing stereo and mono samples. So I converted all samples that were mono to stereo. Let's see if that fixes it.

Well, that fixed it. Strange though, that The ESI would have this problem even though it used a different OS than the E4.

Excellent. It's a bit wasteful on voices but there 64, not going to run out in a hurry. More of an annoyance if you've got to fiddle with all your mono samples.
